I remember watching this on TV as a child, and bought it to watch with my grandchildren - they loved it! Lauren & Hardy and other actors/comedians from the 1930's, 40's, and 50's should not be forgotten.

VHS : Laurel & Hardy: Bohemian Girl / Below Zero
Though "Swiss Miss" was among Laurel and Hardy's weaker features, it contained several vintage sequences. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said about "The Bohemian Girl" (1936) - a dour comic opera with few highlights. What worked so beautifully in "Fra Diavolo" falls flat this time around. The Stan and Ollie characters remain submerged in the operetta's unrelenting heaviness. After her mysterious death, Thelma Todd's final screen role was severely truncated in post-production, which didn't help ... Read More:

This movie begins with Stan and Ollie in the employment office, waiting for any available job they can do. Ollie happens to overhear that a butler and maid, preferrably a married couple, are wanted to host a swank party in town, immediately, and decides the two of them will take the job. Stan is forced to put on female attire and a curly blonde wig, far from the first time he's dressed in drag in one of their movies. This entire scene at the dinner party is a remake of their 1928 silent short 'From Soup to ... Read More:

It's already been well-covered as to plot, deficiencies, etc. by other reviewers. So I will just say that, bogged down though it may be with a dreadful and forgettable romance that has little bearing on our boys, the merits far outweigh the slight defects. The 'Hundred Pipers' dance segment counts with their best, the bungled forced-suicide of Stanley's, ditto (Out of our sight, the gun goes off, but Stanley is revealed to be still standing; "What happened?" asks Ollie. "I missed," Stan replies tearfully.)Hard to beat ... Read More:

Producer Hal Roach makes the regrettable error of shoehorning Laurel and Hardy into a romantic musical that looks like a Jeanette MacDonald-Nelson Eddy reject. Fortunately, "Swiss Miss" (1938) includes some of Stan and Ollie's most memorable scenes - highlighted by their surreal encounter with a gorilla on an Alpine suspension bridge. Skip the dreadful songs and you will have a good time.

VHS : Laurel & Hardy: Way Out West
Way Out West is generally regarded as Laurel and Hardy's best feature film.Next to Sons Of The Desert. It is the only other L&H film to be a Stan Laurel Production(the other being Our Relations from a year earlier).Definetly one of my favourite L&H films. Not a dull moment in the movie.Rarely do we actually see Stan laugh. Not only is this one of their films where Oliver sings beautifully, but Stan also sings with a cartoonish trick voice. There are a lot of special effects in this movie as well.Such as Stan igniting his thumb, the boys running away from ... VHS : Laurel & Hardy: Great Guns
Hampered by material better suited to Abbott and Costello, the decline of Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy began with this badly conceived 1941 comedy - a sad comedown from the Hal Roach days. The Boys try their best to redeem "Great Guns," but it's a losing battle. Stan and Ollie's lack of creative input is woefully apparent. If you want to see the team in military surroundings, track down the far-superior "Pack Up Your Troubles" (1932).

10.Laurel & Hardy: Battle of Century (Silent) starring: Stan Laurel, Oliver Hardy, Jack Adams, Ed Brandenburg, Dorothy Coburn

It's unfortunate that the entirety of this film does not survive, since it seems like it could have had a lot more substance and a better-developed plot if the missing sections were intact. Here we see the first reel, featherweight boxer Stan up against a big burly opponent (the great character actor Noah Young). Stan knocks him cold in the first round, but things don't go so nicely in the following round. Ollie, his manager, knows that something has to be done to bring in the money and to make sure that Stan gets out of the ring before he has another chance ... Read More:
