VHS : I, Claudius
I belong to the generation that saw high-budget Roman period productions such as Ridley Scott's Gladiator, HBO's Rome, and even the Polish adaptation of Quo Vadis (highly recommended). Having also been brought up in the States and becoming something of a classicist during my later education, I had read Robert Graves' books I, Claudius and Claudius the God, and heard of the BBC miniseries and always meant to see it, though not expecting much due to the age of the series and low budget it required ... VHS : Ewoks - The Battle for Endor
I watched this movie because my cousin was hooked on it when I was 6 years old, and now that I'm 28 it still has the same charm and cuteness that it always has. The characters are very cute in the movie and I think it is a great movie for kids maybe 5 or 6 and above to watch, it does have some rather creepy looking characters in it that may freak smaller kids out. But even as an adult I LOVE THIS MOVIE!!

VHS : Heidi (1993) (Clam)
This is an all time classic. I cry every time when I watch this movie. I bought the VHS back then. Now that the DVD is available, I must own it. When it is available on Blue-Ray, I will buy it too....

VHS : Goodbye Mr. Chips (1969)
I just could not believe after all these years, a DVD of Goodbye Mr. Chips is going to be released. Ever since i watched the movie back in 1969 in Hong Kong, the movie and the songs were in my minds always. I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to attend a boarding school two years later and experienced the life of boarding school. The two songs of "You and I" and "Walk through the world with me" are just pure magic and i wish the music producers could give much more credits to these two songs. I certainly ... Read More:

I've previously owned the Lynch version on DVD and the epic, three hour TV version that was shown on the Sci-Fi channel on a worn-out VHS tape. When this new extended edition dvd was released I jumped at the chance to get it. The extended version gives you much more detail and insight into the characters than the Lynch cut. While I find that the Lynch cut is enjoyable in it's own right I prefer the completeness of the extended edition. The shorter version just seems too rushed with too many gaps.

6.Age of Innocence (1993) starring: Domenica Cameron-Scorsese, Geraldine Chaplin, Daniel Day-Lewis, Tracey Ellis, Carolyn Farina

VHS : Age of Innocence (1993)
Tried to care about this elegant, opulent saga, but this movie just comes off as rather pointless. Michelle Pfeiffer turns in a radiant performance trying to get out from under these overstuffed rooms and overwrought sensibilities, but can't quite manage it.

Her main problem, in my opinion, Daniel Day-Lewis here plainly just doesn't cut it as a leading man. His emasculated, simpering deadpan, dispensing dialogue medicinally as so much cough syrup, completely fails to engage as a romantic figure. Trying ... Read More:

VHS : Clash of the Titans
Wow!! To tell you the truth, this is one of my all time favorites! I am a cult movie fanatic. I was elated to find Clash of The Titans available for sale, I bought it instaneously! I counted the days until it arrived and I immediately popped it into my sponge bob DVD player to give it a whirl, I was taken back thirty years ago to the days when creating special effects was something people actually had to think hard about to create. I love this flick, especially when they release the Cracken!!! Timeless

8.Valmont starring: Colin Firth, Annette Bening, Meg Tilly, Fairuza Balk, Siân Phillips

VHS : Valmont
This lavish retelling of Les Liaisons Dangereuses stars Annette Benning as the Marquise de Merteuil, a nasty aristocrat who delights in manipulating those around her. She is outraged when her lover makes plans to marry the young and virtuous Cecile,(who is in love with her music teacher), so she engages the services of the notorious playboy the Vicomte de Valmont to cuckold him. Before he can do it, however, Valmont falls in love with a proper, married woman, Madame de Tourvel. Learning of this, Merteuil bets Valmont that ... Read More:

9.Becket (Letterboxed Edition) starring: Richard Burton, Peter O'Toole, John Gielgud, Gino Cervi, Paolo Stoppa

VHS : Becket (Letterboxed Edition)
Another "Burton" at his best, "Becket" gives us a superb Peter O'toole as Henry II. No better acting than these two give us has Hollywood ever produced and it's all there in this increibly important film. Thought provoking and ethiically important. The comlexity of being human faces us throughout the two and a half hours. Would that Hollywood were still producing motion pictures of this quality!

10.The Borrowers starring: Ian Holm, Penelope Wilton, Rebecca Callard, Paul Cross, Daniel Newman
directed by: John Henderson
March 02, 1999

VHS : The Borrowers
The British version of this delightful series is far better than the American re-make (even though I like John Goodman). As previously noted , we could do with out the narratives by boring Mr. Lewis ( Gerard Butler would make a much better narrator),
I would love to have this for my twin grandchildren to enjoy when they get a bit older (they just turned 3).
