VHS : Turning Point
I am very surprised that this movie had this high ratings. I may agree with others on the right casting, but this was not my genre. I mean, I love watching ballet but I hated to see ballet connected with divorce, alcohol, sexual relationships before marriage, jealous, mean words and actions, and swearing words. It was a very ugly movie with a beautiful ballet. The dance was exquisite but I didn't enjoy it at all because I didn't like the characters at all. When my daughter covered her ears, I had ... Shirley Maclaine's willingness to risk ridicule with her candor is to be commended. She powerfully states what many people fear to speak of. This book inspired me and in fact, if the title had not been taken, may very well have been the title for "Blessings In The Mire." Because she is such a celebrity figure, Maclaine risked more than an average joe. By expressing her beliefs, she opened herself up to the skeptics, the critics, the hecklers. If for nothing else, Ms. Maclaine should be commended for ... Read More:

By the time Jack Nicholson shows up for about five minutes of screen time as Garrett Breedlove, this turgid 1996 sequel to 1983's Terms of Endearment has already slogged through two deaths, a psychotherapist with an Oedipal complex, and a lot of scrapbooks. The problems with this shamelessly manipulative movie are many, and they all begin with the inevitable premise that tough Texas matron Aurora Greenway can carry on without being challenged by her feisty daughter Emma. However, without Debra Winger's earthy grit counterbalancing ... Read More:

When you have stars of this caliber, who needs a real plot? They do terrific send ups of themselves and the result is a funny, funny film. The fact that Reynolds and Taylor got together on screen makes the experience even more memorable.

Don't go in expecting Shakespeare ... but sit back and enjoy the inside jokes and the incredible talent of four of the living legends of Hollywood.

Perhaps one of his best films, Chance the Gardiner (Sellers) delivers a master performance for any viewer...of course the film is dryer than a pair of old ladies on a golf course but the episodes that take place in the film are sure to please any audience!

Although there is one rather foul word in the movie, for the most part, the movie is excellent. Great music, and a story that makes you think.

9.Baryshnikov: The Dancer and the Dance starring: Mikhail Baryshnikov, Shirley MacLaine

VHS : Baryshnikov: The Dancer and the Dance
Baryshnikov at his brilliant best. Covering his introduction to the world of ballet in The Soviet Union, until his time with The New York Ballet Co. Wonderfully presented by Shirley MacLaine who seems to put Baryshnikov very much at ease in the interviews.
The Video finishes with the very complicated and intriguing ballet. Truly amazing dancing by the whole company.
Filmed in 1983 with very good visual and audio quality.

VHS : Matchmaker (1958) (B&W)
Thornton Wilder's 1955 Broadway play THE MATCHMAKER was one of his most celebrated efforts, starring Ruth Gordon as the meddling matchmaker Dolly Gallagher-Levi. Paramount snatched up the film rights, and three years later it became a box office sensation with stage/screen actress Shirley Booth (an Oscar winner for 1952's "Come Back Little Sheba") in the title role.

Set in turn-of-the-century Yonkers and New York, the story spins around Mrs Dolly Gallagher-Levi (Shirley Booth), a widow who dabbles in matchmaking. Her most influential client is ... Read More:
