These are the closest to the books (the characters and stories suffer some distortions) and perfectly cast and acted. |

| If you are a fan of the film " The Name of the Rose", you will love Brother Cadfael
The monk is part Father Brown with Sherlock Holmes. He solves crimes the medievel way and the way he does it will intrigue mystery lovers everywhere. Derek Jacobi bring an aire of class to Cadfael. | I'm no movie critic, much less any expert at Shakespearian reviews. My worst grades in school were in English; I dreaded spring semester when we would have to study these plays. I remember not liking Macbeth because it seemed too bloody, too much killing, but that, to me, seems typical of Scottish history. | I feel cheated. This movie comes up in credited roles for Gerard Butler. Well, you barely see him! He pops his head into a tent, goes into the tomb, and is dead within 2 minutes. So, if you're looking for another movie to drool over Mr. sexy Irish accent, forget this one. And he dies for nothing, trust me.

| This film understands something that 99% of Hollywood films dont. Its the journey not the destination that matters. Most films are like inanimate objects these days, skeletal building frames carefully joined together to get to the pre-determined and cliched ending. Boring.
