VHS : High Road to China
"High Road to China" is a classic. It had a great cast and good directing. The movie had action, adventure, comedy, danger, romance, and history. Tom Selleck is at his best. Bess Armstrong gives a stellar performance; as do Jack Weston, Wilford Brimley, et al. As with his movies, T.S's presence on the silver screen, doesn't overpower the other actors/actresses. It is a crime against good films not to view it, let alone not to own it !

How can it be that Walter Matthau's best performance, especially a comedy performance, is not available on DVD? It's a shame, because this is arguably the most brilliant dark comedy from that wonderful golden age of grown-up films from the mid 60s to the mid 70s. This movie is way too funny and brilliant to be this undercover and cult. Elaine May is to comedy what Coppola and Scorsese were to drama. Her writing is as good as comedy writing gets, and her performance gives a glimpse at how wonderful ... Read More:

What a work of art! This is one of the best movies of all time. When the spinster missionary woman (Hepburn) must TOLERATE Mr. Arnaut (Bogart)
in their life-threatening trip down the river in a beat-up old boat, The African Queen, the fun begins. She can drum up no respect for this man--until she realizes that he is an intelligent person who may be able to save their lives by his cool wit. He good naturedly sloughs off her constant criticism, while she endures his slovenly ways and colorful language. At ... Read More:

I ordered this video for my son who has become a chef. The video was in good, not excellent, condition just as the seller had said. I would buy from him again.

Andrew and Virginia Stone (Julie, Cry Terror) are no ordinary movie realists. In 1960, when they decided to make a movie about the sinking of an ocean liner, (The Last Voyage), they hired the aged Ile de France, hauled her out into the Pacific Ocean, and then effectively scuttled her, in the interests of their art and their commerce. In an industry where big is par, the Stones think colossal.

In 1970, their newest project opened at the Cinerama Theater, on a screen almost as wide as the Scandinavian peninsula. ... Read More:

... I didn't feel he was really into his performance in this movie, the way he was in 'Scaramouche'. This movie, for me, was just 'okay', not horrible, not great, just somewhere in between. I own this movie, and I will watch it again, but I must say I'm not in any particular hurry to do so. I would like for the 2006 James Purefoy version to show up on dvd. As for this version, I imagine it will be on dvd once Purefoy's version comes out.

Part of my problem with this movie is (and it is not the movie's fault) I'm not a big fan of Elizabeth ... Read More:
