I WATCHED THIS MOVIE A LONG TIME AGO ON THE DISNEY CHANNEL, AND I DID RECORD IT, BUT I WOULD LIKE IT ON DVD FOR REGION 1.

3.Macbeth starring: Jon Finch, Francesca Annis, Martin Shaw, Terence Bayler, John Stride
directed by: Roman Polanski
Average Rating: out of 5 stars

VHS : Macbeth
Will's play is pretty good. Polanski's film, not so much. Yep, the Scottish play was meant to be a dark one, and Polanski gives us lots of glowering skies, but I just didn't feel much depth of character in this rendering. I'd love to see what Zefferelli would do with Macbeth... or the Cohen brothers....

4.The Hand starring: Richard Altman, Michael Caine, Pat Corley, Jack Evans (II), Scott Evans

The Hand DVD

It features a riveting performance by Michael Caine, a cartoonist, who, after losing his drawing hand in an auto accident caused by his wife who is "separating from him", spirals down into a psychological abyss from which he cannot escape. Oliver Stone's screenplay and direction is well-paced and crisp. The ending is unforeseen and shocking.

Highly recommended for fans of Michael Caine and psycho thrillers

I truly enjoyed Alan Arkin in this film, and found some of the scenes absolutely hilarious!

Deserving of a "G" rating it is not, however. "PG" would better inform prospective viewers.

7.Equus starring: Richard Burton, Peter Firth, Colin Blakely, Joan Plowright, Harry Andrews

A well-directed arthouse style movie. It is disturbing but necessarily so...brilliant performance by Richard Burton!

8.The Mirror Crack'd starring: Angela Lansbury, Geraldine Chaplin, Tony Curtis, Edward Fox, Rock Hudson

VHS : The Mirror Crack'd
A group of Hollywood actors and filmmakers (including Tony Curtis, Elizabeth Taylor, Rock Hudson and Kim Novak) come to Miss Marple's small country village to shoot a movie, and needless to say, given the fact that this is based on an Agatha Christie novel, someone turns up dead. Miss Marple's nephew (Edward Fox), a Scotland Yard detective is called in to investigate, but as you would expect, he is assisted along the way by Miss Marple (Angela Lansbury).

I've seen many films and telemovies based on the novels of Agatha Christie, over the course of my life, but "The ... Read More:

I have loved this film since it was first released in Canada. I saw it at a theatre on Yonge Street in Toronto at a Saturday matinee where the kiss between the two men started a mini-riot sparked by some teen-aged boys in the audience. They were probably expecting a gangster movie !
I have over the years recommended the film, and loaned my VHS and DVD copies to people younger than myself who universally seem to have the same reaction, "It is so Seventies !" Never mind that it is one of the best acted films of its decade, and that it unflinchingly examines complex relationships ... Read More:

First of all, I have to say up front that I am both a football (aka soccer) fan and an ardent Arsenal supporter, so this film was almost a must see, at least for me. That said, I will state that the film has its share of poignant moments, almost all of them revolving around the central character's obsession with all things Arsenal, and the level to which this frustrates his girlfriend as she attempts to build a meaningful relationship (with Arsenal always in the way). If you have more than a passing interest in football, and you want to get an English perspective on the subject, this is a good film. ... Read More:
