VHS : Revolution (1985)
I think its easily the best movie about the American Revolution. The A&E videos of TV pressentations of "The Crossing" and "Benedict Arnold" are also very good. While how good it is is a matter of opinion, anyone who thinks that Gibson's silly movie is better doesn't know much about American history. This movie has the feeling of the 1770s and the criticism of Pacino's and Kinsky's accents is amusing. The residents of the americas came from every corner of the earth and regional accents were numerous. ... Read More:

VHS : Flash Gordon
Maybe I could have understood the movie better if I wasn't having so much fun watching it! Why are Sam and Dale stuck out in the universe instead of going back to earth? Well, I'd stay out in space if the alternative was the dreary, dust-ridden planet we get a glimpse of at the beginning of the film. The movie picks up steam and color as soon as Dr. Zharkov kidnaps our hero and heroine and whisks them off to save the planet, and especially when they reach the court of the fabulous Ming the Merciless. Ridiculed for ... Read More:

VHS : Rough Night in Jericho

This is a very enjoyable movie for western buffs of the mid-1960's before Hollywood forgot 'how' to make good westerns.

The cast is sensational comprised of many seasoned and well known actors with one of my all time favorites, George Peppard, turning in a strong performance. George has the role of a man forced to take a hand literally in a battle for a town, one with which he tried to avoid. But Dean Martin plays such an unscrupulous and moral bankrupt part that ole Dino eventually brings the roof down ... Read More:

VHS : Wait Until Dark
Based on the play by Frederick Knott, 1967's WAIT UNTIL DARK was very much "the" thriller of the era, a shocker that set audiences screaming--particularly in the film's final ten minutes, when cinema lights were lowered to the legal limit, placing both characters and audiences in near total blackout for the the movie's climax. The whole thing was a huge success, and it copped Audrey Hepburn still another Academy Award nomination as best actress.

Hepburn plays Susy Hendrix, a blind woman living with husband Sam in a New York apartment. ... Read More:

VHS : A Thousand Heroes
This movie was made for TV and again, it proves that Hollywood could learn a lesson from the small movie makers. This movie blew me away! Okay, so it's not an award winning cast but if you forget "John Boy" is in charge and Charlton Heston's presence is a bit large for a TV movie, this story is one you won't forget. And no matter how many times I see the actual crash footage inserted into this movie, I'm still amazed.

And here we are again. Where is the DVD format? There isn't one because this is yet another great movie the execs thought no one ... Read More:

VHS : The Alamo
I love this film. It's entertaining as it can be but historically it is way off the mark. The lyrics of one of song goes as follows: "...let the legend grow and grow....'bout those thirteen days of glory at the siege of Alamo..." I think this demonstrates Wayne's philosophy..."let the LEGEND grow and grow..." He had no problem with bending the facts a little to emphasize the glory that was Alamo.

I'm in total disagreement with this philosophy. I think that the actual story of Alamo is so compelling that it shouldn't be fictionalized. So what if a few ... Read More:

VHS : Seven Days in May (B&W)
Some of the best actors in Hollywood are in this film, but the best performance, as far as I am concerned is by Burt Lancaster. When I read this book and saw the movie as a teenager, it scared me to death to think how easy it would have been to topple our government. I would highly recommend this movie for any age range, with the caveat that reading the book first would enhance the experience.
