Peter Strauss, an underated actor, who has given numerous outstanding performances, is paired with the legendary Charlton Heston in a superb drama of a the younger Strauss returning home with wife and son in tow to be with his father, played by Heston, who is dying. The conflict between the two men arises because of Strauss's character's disavowal of the Vietnam war, in which he served. Heston sees this as cowardice and his view is shared by many in the conservative town, who view Strauss with open ... Read More:

I enjoy any of John Grisham's books about the underdog fighting high corporations and winning. I usually read the book first and then compare it to the movie. The movie stays with the plot of the book well and the acting is well done. I like the fact that the actors that usually portray the characters in the books are big name actors with a lot of experience in their craft. Their performances are stellar which makes the film even more fun to watch. Even though I have seen this several times I wanted ... Read More:

Action flick with some halfway decent MA scenes in it; Speakman was still buff in this one, but I found myself fast forwarding to the fight scenes at times. Also stars Ron Silver, who is pretty good as a bad guy.

Lance Henriksen (Hard Target, Millennium) and Leo Rossi (Relentless) are together again since "Hit List". They add their special talents to this movie and their faces to the cover, a big reason why I bought it. Mr. Henriksen repeats his classic role as the controling mad man behind the scenes. Mr. Rossi, playing a cop, doesn't get to display his usual cocky attitude much, a drawback he overcomes. Anther great in this movie of doublecross is David Warner (Wax Works, Time After Time). His British cool is perfect ... Read More:

VHS : Man of Aran
This gripping 77-minute film holds us spellbound and captivates our imagination as much as almost any other work in the history of cinema.

Yes--it's because of technique; and yes--it's because of the artistry, because of the the craggy feel of the Aran Isles and the hard-scrabble looks of the locals pressed into service as actors by the brilliant documentarist, Robert Flaherty.
