| Interesting and easy read - Fox has done his research well. My late husband's parents were Kenya settlers and his father had NO respect for the Happy Valley crowd AT ALL. Fox has certainly filled in many of the gaps left in the story my husband, Len Gill told me and has introduced me to a new side of some of the characters Len knew. I only wish I had read this book before my husband died of cancer. So many questions - so little time for answers. |

| I watched The Mission in a class that I'm currently taking about the Literature of Human Rights in Latin America. The Mission is about the colonial time in South America and shows the treatment of indigenous people and human rights. | This is the best version of Great Expectations in film, I gave it a star because it's in VHS. I have no idea why they didn't come out on DVD.
Well...if any of you are waiting for DVD or planning to buy this VHS, think again. This film actually came out in DVD at UK so look somewhere else. |

| The Looking Glass War is a mediocre adaptation of John Le Carre's novel of the same name. The acting is stilted and awkward, the screenplay poor, and the whole thing feels contrived, which it is. Even Anthony Hopkins' performance is poor. Bought it, watched it, put it up on eBay.

| First of all,if you are a fan of John LeCarre`s work,then you enjoy that detailed,realistic and methodical "real world" espionage life that LeCarre sucks you into. This BBC mini-series is a wonderful adaptation of the novel and has much re-watch value.I recommend reading the book "A Perfect Spy" before viewing the mini-series...you will enjoy it that much more if you do!A great BBC television program that will also appeal to fans of British television and foreign film. | This is one of the saddest, most beautiful movies I've ever seen. John Lynch and Helen Mirren give radiant performances and bring human faces to the struggle that is no-win for everyone. The members of the IRA are shown at once as monsters and victims and neither ever becomes the dominant way to view those who carry on the violence. Mark Knopfler wrote the soundtrack -- it only adds to the poignancy of the film. You can't miss w/ this one. |

| This is one of my all-time favorite black comedies, but very obscure. Ray McAnally (played the bishop in The Mission) and Bernard Hill (played the captain in Titanic) spar in an alice-in-wonderland nightmare night as catholic and protestant groups are booked simultaneous in a outskirts-urban nightclub in Ireland for New Years Eve. | I have seen this on TV, but I didn't give this five stars as I haven't watched the dvd yet and don't know if the dvd is of good quality. The movie, however, is excellent and deserves five plus stars. Daniel Day Lewis gives an awesome performance, as always. Very moving film. |
