VHS : Sterile Cuckoo
I just got through reading a book about Liza the other today (the book was lousy) but it described "The Sterile Cuckoo" which I have never seen or heard of before. I looked online for it and all I could find was the used copies on this site for eighteen bucks. So imagine my surprise when it came on TCM this week. What luck, right?

Wendell Burton was the perfect actor to play the role of Jerry because he did everything I expected him to do and in a way he did everything that I wanted ... Read More:

VHS : Photographing Fairies
Introduction: `Photographing Fairies' is an obscure British film from '98 that to my knowledge was never released to American theaters. It was available in limited quantities on VHS but has yet to appear on a REGION 1 DVD.

This probably shouldn't be too surprising when you look at the subject matter of the film. Unlike the Emerald Isles who have an ancient and ongoing oral and written tradition concerning the "wee folk", American audiences are vastly untutored in the topic of the intangible ... Read More:

VHS : Power Rangers Wild Force - Identity Crisis
I despise this show. They ruin the timeline completely. One thing that made me hate this show is that they ruined my favorite childhood sentai group: the Big Bad Beetle Borgs. They made Shadow Borg an idiotic lackey, had the Green Beetle Borg a villain, and discluded some of the other Borgs(especially the Blue and Red)! I also hated the Power Rangers in it. They are so lame. "EVERYTHING'S MY FAULT! I HATE MY LIFE! WAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!"
SUCK IT UP AND FIX IT! SHEESH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So basically, ... Read More:

Bette Davis stars in another melodrama dripping with mixed up love affairs, scandal, and death. She plays a gangster's moll who tries to live a normal life as a secretary after her husband's death. During this time, she meets a wealthy man who wants to marry her (Henry Fonda). They do wed against his father's wishes, a powerful man who anulls the marriage and leaves Davis with a child. Her boss (Ian Hunter) is sympathetic and does all he can to take care of her, all the time falling in love with her despite being ... Read More:

VHS : High Hopes
HIGH HOPES provides most strengths and few weaknesses of its superb director, Mike Leigh, with the former category including his choice of footage from a typically improvisational collection of scenes; avoidance of a formulaic scenario when comparing and contrasting three widely disparate but plot-connected couples, in a Margaret Thatcher administered England; skill in controlling mood adjustment and visual constructs that generally serve to intensify viewer response; and his canny employment of technicians to implement effective staging ... I always liked the movie and only had a used VHS copy. The DVD I bought was in good shape and I enjoyed watching QUADROPHENIA ON THE DVD format.
I have watched it a couple of times. I did have some trouble with the extra features (sub titles) coming on when I switched scenes during movie using the main menu. I would have to go back in main menu and keep turning the sub titles off. But if I watch the DVD all the way through without interruption I had no words popping up on me. Just For Today.

I knew when I read the back of the DVD what I was in for with this movie. To make things short, this is an almost scene for scene remake of "The Flesh and the Fiends" film also marketed as "Psycho Killers" "Mania" or "The Fiendish Ghouls". Those who have compared this to a "Hammer" film, may be interested to know that Hammer regular actor Peter Cushing played the main character role (Dr. Knox in this version instead or Dr. Rock) and also it also started Donald Pleasance of Halloween fame. Interestingly enough although these films have a kind or ... Read More:

I saw this movie on tv a long time ago and loved it! It has an interesting, gripping plot and keeps you wondering if she'll get away with it or not. Also, Betty Davis, as usual, is subperb in this movie! Perfect fit for an actress with her range. She's never settled to just play the pretty, helpless damsel in distress! I'd recommend this movie to anyone who enjoys a TRUE mystery and suspense movie!

VHS : Blue Ice
MICHAEL Caine is a super cool, ex-MI6 Intelligence Officer who gets sucked back into the treacherous and deceitful world of espionage when he tries to help his paramour played by curvaceous, voluptous, sensuous Sean Young. She is the inspiration for the movie's unusual title. Sexy Sean Young just happens to be the wife of the US Ambassador to the United Kingdom and is one hell of a raunchy lady (check out the shower scene!). Michael owns a Jazz Club but beneath his dark and ruthless side, he has a gleaming heart of gold. The movie sound track is full of superb jazz. His ... Read More:
