VHS : The Detective (aka "Father Brown")
"What are you really after, your cross or my soul?" asks the international art thief, Flambeau, of Father Brown.
"Both, of course," Father Brown replies.
"Well, come and find us," Flambeau says. "I'll make you a bargain. Whatever you can find you shall have."
"I accept your bargain," Father Brown says, and we're off into a gentle, amusing and thoughtful movie which stars Alec Guinness as Father Brown and Peter Finch as Flambeau.

Father Brown is a parish priest in ... Read More:

VHS : Miniver Story
I watched this movie directly after seeing "Mrs. Miniver" on Turner Classics, and expected something along the same lines, however I was a bit disappointed in the defeatest tone of the movie, and the fact that there was no accounting (unless I missed it somehow) of the absence of the oldest son Vin...also, Judy aged quite fast in this sequel! I was unhappy about the ending, and couldn't understand why we couldn't just have Greer and Walter dance off into the sunset...still, if/when it is available on DVD I will buy it.

VHS : Flight of the Phoenix (1965)
This may not have won any awards, but it is a great story superbly acted by a stellar cast. Infinitely better than the recent trashy remake. The interplay between the characters is finely done and keeps you hooked from start to finish. Best film of 1965 without a doubt and definitely an important addition to anyone's history of cinema collection.

5.Peter and Paul starring: Eddie Albert, Clive Arrindell, Raymond Burr, Kenneth Colley, Vernon Dobtcheff
October 01, 1996
Average Rating: out of 5 stars

VHS : Peter and Paul
This is a wonderful film, superbly written and very well acted. It gives an idea of what it may have been like for the leaders of the early church, including the politics involved. I highly recommend it.

6.Raid on Entebbe starring: Peter Finch, Charles Bronson, Martin Balsam, Horst Buchholz, John Saxon
directed by: Irvin Kershner

VHS : Raid on Entebbe
It's a good movie and definitely a great story. Anytime folks stand up to evil and prevail, it deserves an applaud. This is a true story of terrorist kidnapping of a passenger airliner and holding them hostage trying to get them exchanged for release of imprisoned terrorists. The Israeli special forces go to work and pull off a stunning rescue with minimal casualties on their side. It only briefly mentions the aftermath in closing credits, but I think it deserves greater attention. Specifically the killing of the innocent hostage who was transported ... Read More:

VHS : The Story of Robin Hood
Honestly, I can never have too much Robin Hood. I love each and every take out there, and that includes "The Story of Robin Hood", a little-known live action Disney version from the 1950's. I love the gorgeous Technicolor, the delicate matte painting backgrounds, the folk ballads, the archery, the Richard Todd. More on him in a minute.

It's hard to imagine a more sedate version of the rollicking legend. Not that the film is boring; it isn't. It's just oddly calm. There's action, but no peril, plot, but no ideas. The film is a straightforward ... Read More:

VHS : Nun's Story (1959)
This was one of Audrey's finest performance. She was moving, believable and heart touching. She is the finest actress to ever hit the big screen.

VHS : Far From the Madding Crowd
The new DVD is a disaster--still cropped rather than 2.35x1 and lacking the original stereo soundtrack. Warner Bros. has botched a great opportunity to present this beautiful film in the manner it deserves.
