VHS : Just Tell Me What You Want
I first saw this movie in the early 80's became an instant Alan King fan and purchased it immediately. The movie was hilarious. It is about a tycoon (Max) with a alcoholic wife (Connie), mistress (Bones) and a protective secretary (Stella) and how Max's agressive, manipulative and vindictive personality affects all. Anyone who watches this movie will never forget the hilarious scene where Bones (McGraw) attacks Max (King) at Bergdorf's.

You could classify this movie as the comedic ... Read More:

VHS : I Love You Again
William Powell has never been funnier and Myrna Loy has never been more lovely than in W.S. Van Dyke's "I Love You Again." Perhaps only Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers, with their style, grace, and easy elegance could viably compete with them with film fans attempting to crown an all-time favorite. Powell and Loy were sophistication with an edge, their "Thin Man" series of "A" pictures as beloved as Fred and Ginger's romantic dance numbers.

Powell and Loy were such a potent combination at the ... Read More:

VHS : Mask of Fu Manchu
I bought this VHS after reading some of the customer reviews on Amazon and I will have to be more discerning in the future. Some of the reviews that were 5 stars raved about the production and the performances and I gotta wonder what they were watching or if they were sober during their movie experience. This was a "B" movie at best and even for the early 1930's this was a poor effort. I have always been a fan of Boris Karloff, Myrna Loy and even Lewis Stone, but I'm afraid they were wasted in this effort. Even ... Read More:

VHS : The April Fools
When this film was released I was in my teens. I went to the movies alone, often, and would go see films I liked multiple times. I went to see this one a lot, sitting in the theater for multiple showings. I remember the theater (the Miracle in Miracle Mile, Coral Gables, Florida) had a TV set in the lobby so people could watch Apollo 11 land. I had already seen The April Fools several times and I walked out, watched the lunar landing, and went back to what really mattered to me; the unfolding fairy tale I still dream of as an older, ... VHS : The Thin Man
This movie is one hour and thirty-three minutes long and came out in May 23, 1934. The Thin Man is actually the inventor that has gone missing not the detective. William Powell and Myrna Loy do a great job as Nick and Nora Charles, a wealthy married couple. Those two reprise their role for another five more Thin Man movies. The best part is at the end; where Nick Charles host a dinner party to unmask the murder. By the way he does not know who it is. It is his hope something unravels at the party. To quote Nora Charles: "It is the best ... Read More:

Nick Charles is walking in a park, his son in tow. He scans the racing form. Later Nick and Nora travel across a bridge but are stopped for speeding. Police and ambulances rush to the racetrack. A jockey was shot after he was caught cheating. Not as punishment, but to shut his mouth. Lt. Abrams asks Nick Charles for advice. An investigator was looking into a gang who was fixing the races. Nick and Nora go to a wrestling match and get a hot dog. Two heavy wrestlers put on a show. Then a man wants to go away; he asks for a lot of money. A reporter ... Read More:
