VHS : No Time for Sergeants
It arrived in a reasonable amount of time. The condition was ok, not great but ok. It did appear as if it came from a video rental company which was a bit troubling. All in all it was an ok experience although I think for the condition a bit overpriced.

VHS : House Without Christmas Tree
This is one of my favorite Christmas movies from my childhood. It was shown annually on television for several years and I tried never to miss it. Having a copy of it on DVD is great. If you haven't seen this one, you are really missing out. It is a very "Christmasy" experience. I mean, it just has that "feel" of years past (it took place in the 40's). The little girl in the movie, Addie, lives with her Grandmother and very moody father (Jason Robards), who refused to let her have a Christmas ... Read More:

VHS : Anatomy of a Murder
I've been watching the entire Otto Preminger catalog lately, and I got around to seeing what is arguably his most famous film. Seeing it again makes me realise that it's a masterpiece of tension, performances, dialogue, and cinematography.

There is so much to like about this film. Nothing here in the trial or the characterisations is present in black and white (there's even a dialogue by Stewart to a potential witness about how people aren't black and white). It is full blown ambiguity, resulting ... Read More:

VHS : Jaws - 25th Anniversary Collector's Edition
JAWS is probably the best film ever made in a century besides Citizen Kane. Otherwise, Jaws still frightens millions of people.

This DVD I ordered was a present for my mother-in-law who loves these old movies. I searched Amazon for the availability and price. Amazon had a good price for this dvd which was new and unused. The original shipment was lost. After more than a month, I called the customer service and they sent me another shipment that I received after 2 days. The condition of the dvd was as stated on the website. My mother-in-law was really happy receiving her present, even though it was late.

8.Hustler starring: Paul Newman, Jackie Gleason, Piper Laurie, George C. Scott, Myron McCormick
directed by: Robert Rossen

Average Rating: out of 5 stars

VHS : Hustler
Dramatic, sometimes downright melodramatic. There's something kind of James Deanish in Newman's character - naive, brash, arrogant - old school 50s tough guy. Shot in black and white, it still feels distinctly early 60s, and comes off as a modern tragedy (if not melodrama). You can feel elements of 50s drama merging with the rough-hewn existentialism of the early 60s, though it's a drama in every sense of the word - nothing twilight zone about this one, except the way characters seem to resemble Rod Serling a little bit in the way they talk. I didn't ... Read More:

The hardest part of writing a review for this movie was selecting a myriad of titles that filled my imagination: "Fell on its Own Plunger," or "Navy Recruiting Film," or "Pull the Pin on this One and Release the Charging Handle, " or "Weapons Free at the Movie Marquee."

Although I have a great memory for the good things, I also have one for those which are bad, and this is bad. It's bad enough to make John Wayne's "The Green Berets" look like a Cannes Festival Film Classic, and this ranks as the worst military movie I have ever seen, being right down ... Read More:
