| This film is unavailable from Block Buster or NetFlix or the library system. It is too important to be abandoned. I don't know why, if it is considered politically incorrect or too hot to handle, or what. John La Carre wrote without an agenda, showing both sides, warts and all. I plan to loan it to as many people as will watch it.

| Although over the top re what is normal, enough of the movie is close enough to what happens to a father of a bride that the movie is a must see for all fathers who are about to give away their daughter, as I am. |

| Maybe the definitive Burton film (or maybe more like a tie with `Edward Scissorhands'), `Beetlejuice' is a perfect representation of what Tim Burton is all about. It is loud and boisterous and at the same time dark and edgy. The film very much looks and feels like almost everything that comes out of the Burton factory, yet it is surprisingly fresh in a way. | Today I work with many Asians. Particularly I have many Japanese customers. As a teen seeing this movie for the first time I couldn't appreciate how prophetic it was.
I decided to pick it up and watch it again, not having seen it for over 20 years. It holds up so, so well. Don't get caught up in all the anti-USA propaganda of the past decade. Watch this movie. | Keaton and Basinger are very bland, and some new guy named Knoxx is all over the place and Gordon ain't in much. And the Joker upstages Batman. But the dark feel would rub off on many comic-book adaptions, and the big success would lead to more superhero films. (For better or worse.) And Jack Nicholson is very good, amd the set and score are amazing. Worth a rent. |

| The first "Father of the Bride" film made us hold our sides in both laughter and tears, meshing Steve Martin's great comedic "Dad" character with the emotions of marrying off his "only" (to that point!) daughter. However, when viewing the sequel to this great film, I was cautious...too often, sequels play for exactly the same type of laughs as the original (think "Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls") and thus fail to deliver like their predecessor. Thankfully, "Father of the Bride II" does not fall into this trap.

| Michael Keaton is somewhat of an acquired taste. He is funny sometimes, even outright hysterical (take `Beetlejuice' for instance) but other times he just wares on my patience. `Multiplicity' is one of those films that works in parts, but not entirely, and that is mostly due to Keaton's uneven performance. Well, and the fact that Andie MacDowell didn't have any strong direction to squeeze goodness out of her.
