Relentlessly sad and painful but also sweet and funny and somehow hopeful. It's universal theme of change and ability to adapt to change can be applied to the stages of life in individual lives, in industry, in cultures and in countries. The theme song "The Good Times Are Coming," sung by Mama Cass is the greatest example I've ever seen of how music can elevate and accentuate the theme and tone of a movie. Thank goodness for the TCM channel, which makes movies like this available to those who ... Read More:

I had seen this film in two different Media classes in college, and fell in love with it. I'm so glad I was able to find it on Amazon, and the vendor I bought it from was prompt in getting it to me. The product was unopened, which made it that much better of a purchase--because I got to unwrap it, in order to watch it. Thanks very much.

4.Longest Yard starring: Burt Reynolds, Eddie Albert, Ed Lauter, Michael Conrad, James Hampton

VHS : Longest Yard
Much, much better than the later Adam Sandler version, the movie was so good it gave Burt enough leash to go out and make stinker after stinker for about a decade.
The LONGEST YARD is easily one of the best sports movies ever, from my point of view only surpassed by BREAKING AWAY. By now it looks quiet dated (look at the cool remote control!) and I'm still wondering how they were able to convict Crewe on drunk driving when he dumped the car in the water and was arrested in a bar (where is alcohol level ... I agree with everything that's been said, and I'd also look to mention the completely lack of conflict within the movie. It's amazing, there's almost nothing to work against, and very little tension. Maybe it's because we know now that space flight was possible, but it's still amazing to see a movie about the moon landing where the plotline is: We wanted to go the moon, we trained to go the moon, and then we landed on the moon. There's about five minutes there where it looks like James Caan isn't going to find the docking station ... Read More:

Teen Wolf II. Revenge of the Nerds II. Speed II. Dumb and Dumberer. Friday the 13th VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan. Rocky V. What do all these movies have in common with The Next Karate Kid? They're all sequels that should have never been made. The first indication that this movie was a bad idea is that Macchio passed on it.

Hilary Swank plays Julie-san, a girl bullied in her high school. She's got anger issues, family issues, and the team of tough-guy jocks called the Alpha Elite does not help the situation at all. ... Read More:

20 years ago (1988) I caught this movie in $0.99 double feature local cinemas in Portland OR. Didn't expect much, but as soon as the lights go out the fun starts. It is funny from beginning to end. 20 years later (2008) I bought this online and since quite familiar with the movie contents, I decided to watch it with Audio commentary (Director Greg Beeman and script Neil Tonkin) and what a blast. These guys are a lot of fun. The movie itself still funny after all these years. Just a little note, this is the debut for lovely Heather Graham.

10.Hard Way starring: Michael J. Fox, James Woods, Stephen Lang, Annabella Sciorra, John Capodice

VHS : Hard Way
The Hard Way scores as a hyper-deranged double satire, taking on spoiled-rotten Hollywood and the macho lunacy of buddy-cops flicks. There's a ton of smart dialogue amid the cusswords, NY is shot briliantly through a grimy lens (and LA through a glittering lens), a bar scene between Fox and Woods deconstructs a century of gender roles in the movies, and even the car chases/crashes are parodies.

Even though the salty language kept MJF's kiddie audience away, it's one of his few genuinely funky roles, Woods is at his apoplectic finest and the ... Read More:
