VHS : Hud (1963)
This is one of Newmans best, because he plays a completely dispicable

person with no redeeming qualities. He has no scruples and no character.

It is a great departure for Newman and he does a Great job.

VHS : That Certain Age
Deanna Durbin stars in yet another hit as Alice, a girl stuck between childhood and adulthood. One cannot ignore that these pre-teen or teenage years were treated a bit differently than when this film was made, so the kids might behave younger than they would in today's society, but they still deal with similar issues. For example, a writer friend of her father's comes to stay with the family. Vincent Bullitt (Melvyn Douglas) is a charismatic, no-nonsense kind of man that treats Alice as older than her parents ... VHS : Mr Blandings Builds His Dream House
Good Old Fashion humor. A couple of Film classic scenes ( the Building Consultant telling Gary Grant "tear it down" or the painting Foreman listening to Myrna Loy explain in great detail the shades of colors that she wants the rooms painted and the Foreman telling the painters "Red, Blue, Green and Yellow"

VHS : Being There
This movie is uniquely funny and in my opinion the funniest Peter Sellers movie ever... it takes life and personal interpretation to the extreme; people will always make their own assumptions of what they think they hear and or experience!!! Too funny yet sadly so true!!!

VHS : The Changeling
I have long been a fan of this movie. It's not a "blood and guts" horror flick but instead plays games with your head. It was great to find it on DVD!

6.Sea of Grass starring: Katharine Hepburn, Spencer Tracy, Robert Walker, Melvyn Douglas, Phyllis Thaxter
directed by: Elia Kazan
September 01, 1998
Average Rating: out of 5 stars

VHS : Sea of Grass
The Sea Of Grass has a great cast headed by Tracy & Hepburn in their only western together. Unfortunately it's more of a drama than a western and may seem a bit slow to western fans. Also their romance is strained throughout which may seem odd to Tracy/Hepburn fans, but won't disappoint in the long-run. The plot chiefly concerns how her one-time indiscretion strains the marriage and disrupts the family, particularly the effects on their son, fathered outside the marriage by Melvyn Douglas. The best thing about the ... Read More:

VHS : I Never Sang for My Father
I watched "I Never Sang for my Father" for the first time today and it surprized me that I hadn't seen it before. This is an excellent movie that deals with a real issue in many families. The issue is adult father/son relationships and how individuals involved handle their changing roles. The roles don't need to transpose themselves although this sometimes happens as parents reach advanced age. What ideally needs to happen is that love and respect would mature along with father and son. In this way authority would evolve into encouragement ... Read More:

VHS : The Candidate
During the season leading up to the 2008 Presidential Elections, this film raises some interesting questions about the role of the media in shaping who we believe politicians are. After this, and similar films, one has to wonder about the reality of the men being considered for the country's highest office.
