VHS : Hamlet (1990)
After seeing Olivier's version of Hamlet, I was interested in seeing this version of Hamlet. Admittedly, Mel Gibson was one-hundred percent of my impulse to see this film. I don't usually follow actors when choosing movies; I trust directors more than I trust actors in choosing movies. But Mel Gibson is an exception to this rule: when was the last time the man made a bad movie?-- I can't even think of one.

With this said, I rented this movie and watched it with growing delight and amazement. ... Read More:

I thought the artistry was great in this movie, but it's definitely not for youngsters who like claymation. The subject content was pretty morbid, even though the movie ends positively. I was kind of shocked that it was so violently suggestive - it was scary, and I'm an adult. I felt uncomfortable, which is why I don't watch it that often. After seeing this, I am much happier watching his other works like "Wallace and Gromit", which is far more suitable for children.

Again, another classic movie that will be around for a while. It's touching, real and gives personal insight into the lives of the people portrayed in this based- on true life movie. Excellent war movie and a must-see for people that like war movies.

VHS : Lethal Weapon 3
Now don't get me wrong, this movie is deffinetly a good and entertaining movie to watch. It has good action and a lot of comedy, however it is probably the worst one in the series. Lethal Weapon 3 seemed to tone down the movie series quite a lot. It doesn't have the same dark and erie feel as the 1st two do. I know it's rated R but it seems more like a family "budy-cop" movie than the raw and gritty 1st two of the franchise. The ending isn't that great and Riggs seems to have lost almost all of his Special Forces training ... Read More:

VHS : The Road Warrior - Special Edition
The title says it all here folks. I've been a long time fan of this series (and by series, I mean 'Mad Max' and 'The Road Warrior', not that abortion of a movie 'Max Max beyond Thunderdome'). Anyway, this is the Australian release titled 'Mad Max 2', not 'The Road Warrior', so it has a slightly different intro, and they do refer to Mel's character as Max, not as the 'man with no name' like they did in the U.S. version.

Not a lot in the way of extras here. The picture is very grainy when viewed in hi-def. Not anything ... Read More:

As I write this after rewatching the movie, I'm listening to Liam Clancy's wonderful version of Eric Bogle's heartbreaking "And the Band Played Waltzing Matilda." There is nothing I can add to those wonderful postings by others before me except to agree that this picture should be rereleased to the general public and shown in history classes. It might wake up young Americans to the disaster in Iraq -- another senseless war with little planning and forethought and disastrous consequences with tens of thousands dead, wounded, maimed and ... VHS : Forever Young (1996)
Forever Young is a good and romantic drama. The story is a bit soapy but I believe this film was written by J.J. Abrams who went on to bigger and better things. The cast is extraordinary here with stars like Mel Gibson, Jamie Lee Curtis, and a young Elijah Wood. I like this film, brings back a lot of great memories, check it out sometime!
