| Definitely one of the best Vietnam war movies out there. It is more about the psychological trama of the Vienam war which I liked. It can seem a little out there from time to time but that's to get the viewer to understand it from the main character's point of view. | Private Eddie Slovik was the only Army deserter to be shot in WW II, the first since the Civil War. This TV film is a dramatization of the events. [No mention of the soldiers who were executed for murder or rape.] The red keystone patch on the shoulders identify their outfit. In reality, the firing squad had no regrets about their job, or so the books say. The beginning spends time on the details of the execution, slowing the pace. | I usually love to show Eyewitness DVDs for my science classes. The kids enjoy them and they usually remain engaged. This video, however, did not keep my students interested for longer then 10 min. The graphics are very outdated and some of the information seemed pointless (comparision of dinos to building machinery). I realize they cannot have live shots, but the claymation was obviously far older then the dvd production. A few CGI scenes would have helped immensely. |

| Yes, it was the 70s. I saw this as a young father or 4, alone. My wife wouldn't go, she had read a review. Within the structure of the film there was much to breed hate and mistrust. The acting was as precise as a scalpel, thinly drawn and never over the line. I am relating my impressions of seeing this film in its original theatrical run over 35 years ago. | Purchased video to use as supplement for History Of Medicine class (4th grade). Was unhappy with the way things of a "mystical" nature were included in the material. I don't understand how the Producers could justify including information on Tarot Cards in the video. After all, we were looking for information on Skeleton's, not an introduction into foretunetelling. Also,I didn't care for the many references to man's "evolutionary" process from beast to man. | This is a skilfully directed and performed piece of leftist propaganda that holds its punches until the film is 80% complete. Then Rob Reiner unloads on you in a presidential speech that contains all the extreme and often crude left wing views that dominate contemporary Hollywood. The huge talents of Bening and Douglas are wasted. The film's writer deserves a special raspberry award for muddying an otherwise unbelievable script. | Sweet Hostage first aired in 1975 as a TV movie. Sheen's energetic, lyrical performance captured the imagination of a bookish 12 year old who had a few things in common with Linda Blair's lonely tomboy, Doris Mae. The movie engendered in me a life long love of the well spoken word, a fondness for the poetry Blake and Coleridge, and a terrific crush on Martin Sheen.

| I was in Tasmania when this movie was first released looking for desperate 6 toed women in bars and making sure that the sheep were not being mistreated so I had to wait until I got back to the Mainland of Australia to see this film. | I saw this unintentionally as I went to the cinema to see the other film of a double feature. This was the most amazing surprise of my life. Unlike other King films, this isn't really horror - no goblins, unless you count the evil Stillson.
Others have written well about this film. I'd just like to say that if you like psychological thrillers with a twist, you'll love this film. |
