| 2.5 stars. Poitier is Poitier. I'm starting to believe his whole charm was that he looked good in sixties-styled clothing. But as far as having any depth I've only seen a glimmer of it in A raisin in the sun. The rest, well, they all seem like the same character. Really, there's no difference between this performance and that of A patch of Blue or Guess who's coming to Dinner. | I regret that I missed "Love Actually" at the theater. I'm so glad that I bought the DVD, because it has become one of my favorite movies, and certainly one that I see at least once during the holidays every year. I never tire of it. The music and characters are full, real, and wonderful. It's not all laughs, but it's life affirming.
As charming as it is, "Love Actually" is strictly an ADULT movie, not family fare. It wouldn't be the unique movie it is without the adult scenes and language, but be ... Read More: |

| I really hope that this movie is put into dvd form soon. I think this was Dennis Quaid's first movie or was it Caveman? Anyway he is really talented and I always liked Kristy McNichol since the show "Family", which also starred James Broderick (Matthew's father). She has the charm of a little waif and who could forget Mark Hamil from Star Wars fame. Please bring this movie out soon.

| Reckless Kelly is pretty much on par with Young Einstein, although a bit more juvenile in places. I really liked both of these films and I think it is important to remember that these were independently made and not just churned out by a studio. Yes the humor is puerile and juvenile for the most part, yes the story doesn't make a lot of sense if you look at it too closely. However, as a just for fun film it can be entertaining. | Burl Ives is a riot in this film. It's funny, hilareous and full of camp. It's a great laugh and reminds us all of a gentler time. Burl Ives as Fakrash ala Mash, a Genie of the Green Gin, get Tony Randall into so much trouble you just can't stop laughing. It's great to which him turn the father in law into a mule. In the end, you can see the moral of the story and it's really a great light hearted film. |
