VHS : Jesus of Nazareth (3pc)
This video is not as biblically accurate as I was led to believe by the other reviews. I purchased this to augment my bible study teaching so I may be a little tougher on the movie then most people. Dramatic license is taken in several places because of the need to let the viewer know some of the backround as well as the portraying of the actual incidents in Jesus' life. The movie is already 6 hours long so I can understand the necessity of this but some of decisions by the producer are almost ridiculous. ... Read More:

VHS : The World At War - 9 Volume Gift Set
This should be required viewing for each and every "next" generation. You come away with a very good idea about the human cost of war, the folly of war, the stupidity of war and the horror of war. Very complete in its coverage, not just the holocaust. The actual film footage from the era is absolutely fascinating (alot of it in color). Just a great documentary. Lots of extras over and above the original episodes. And the price is right.

VHS : Devil's Disciple (1959)
This is one of my favorite movies. Burt Lancaster and Kirk Douglas are in thier prime, both sexy and studley. If they really had ministers like Lancaster, I'd never miss church. The story, adapted from a play is a bit stagey, but it's very enjoyable. I liked the black and white photography as well. The best part of this picture is Lawrence Olivier as General Burgoyne. He is just so fantastic. He steals every scene he's in and the wordplay between him and Kirk Douglas is really entertaining.
Also the score is very ... Read More:

VHS : That Hamilton Woman
This is a typical London Films Korda classic of the time. While a beautiful and romantic film, much of the incidents portrayed in Emma's life are highly romanticized and inaccurate. Vivian Leign is her usually charged and bouncy self, and Olivier his usual stiff upper lip. The film becomes more a show of chemistry between these two famous actors of the time, with history loosely thrown in!

Vivian Leigh is all over this film, and while some find her bubbly manner charming, at times it can be annoying. I was half expecting ... Read More:

Having read the book (one of my favorites), I just can't stomach this film. What really turned me off was the depiction of Lady Catherine. In the book, that character is never reconciled to the marriage of Darcy and Elizabeth. And where did they get the idea for the archery scene? Certainly not from the book. If you haven't read the book, you might find it entertaining; but for anyone who loves the book, this film just doesn't do it justice.

I have the BBC version and the A&E version. I have not seen the version made this century. ... Read More:

ROFL, yeah I'm going to pay that in your dreams. It is a good thing I don't base my review on the ridiculous prices of these outrageous sellers. If I based it on them I would give it no stars. Great movie with good story and cast, I will be glad when it is finally back in print. I would be very surprised if it isn't re-released on DVD. Just be patient.

Nice reproduction. It was originally filmed in great quality. Not real sure if the Blue-ray version is that much better. I viewed it on a 720p 42" LCD. But the price made it worth it.
