VHS : Groundhog Day
One of my favourite films. This has incredible one liners, great slapstick, Bill Murray at his best and a really strange but completely great premise behind the whole thing.

Superb.

directed by: Albert Magnoli

VHS : Born to Run
If you're a race fan this is the movie to have. Forget about those hi-strung imports, this one is All American muscle. I have watched it over and over, it never gets old. My blood pumps a little faster every time I see it.

3.The Dead Zone starring: Christopher Walken, Brooke Adams, Tom Skerritt, Herbert Lom, Anthony Zerbe
directed by: David Cronenberg

I saw this unintentionally as I went to the cinema to see the other film of a double feature. This was the most amazing surprise of my life. Unlike other King films, this isn't really horror - no goblins, unless you count the evil Stillson.

Others have written well about this film. I'd just like to say that if you like psychological thrillers with a twist, you'll love this film.

4.Cold Sassy Tree starring: Faye Dunaway, Richard Widmark, Frances Fisher, Lee Garlington, John M. Jackson
directed by: Joan Tewkesbury

VHS : Cold Sassy Tree
A flawless scrpit, award winning actors, what else is there to say. Cold Sassy is a beautiful, touching story of love and loss. One of my favorites that I can pass down generations.

A great way to relax and have a good laugh. The Captain and his assorted mixed-bag of crew members come together during the ensuing mock trials of securing entrance into two 'guarded' Atlantic Naval Bases with an 'outdated rust-bucket' of a submarine. While a 'higher ranking' officer tries to prevent this happening, the Captain has been given directions to "think like a pirate" by a still higher ranked officer. Highly recommend this movie for a sit-down-popcorn evening with family or friends.

6.Wings of Fame starring: Peter O'Toole, Colin Firth, Marie Trintignant, Andréa Ferréol, Robert Stephens
directed by: Otakar Votocek
April 03, 2001
Average Rating: out of 5 stars

VHS : Wings of Fame
Otakar Votocek is the genius who penned this imaginative and insightful film which he also Directed WINGS OF FAME is a rare treasure in a world full of bad scripts where "personalities are replacing the true thespians" and worshipped as stars.Beautifully haunting in a world that is an island unto itself and the ocean is nowhere.Having Jello, Edie Sedgewick and Lassie all converge with the Lindbergh Baby on this island paradise is just the tip of the iceberg.Marie Trintignant is hauntingly beautiful as a lost siren whose song is mesmerizing.Peter ... 7.Secret Policeman's Ball starring: Paul Abrahams, Rowan Atkinson, Chris Beetles, Mike Brearley, Eleanor Bron
directed by: Roger Graef
October 20, 1998
Average Rating: out of 5 stars

VHS : Secret Policeman's Ball
A brilliant set of sketches performed by the best of British comedians, and musicians. Several of the routines have provided quotations that have entered the comic lexicon [and not just in our family]: "Will the wind be so mighty, as to lay low the mountains of the earth?" (Rowan Atkinson and Peter Cook), "Interviewer" (Atkinson and John Cleese), "Wensleydale? Oh no, that's my name" (Cleese and Michael Palin). And the live performances of the songs (by Pete Townshend, Phil Collins, and Sting) are terrific. A tragedy that Rhino hasn't released it on ... Read More:

8.Two for the Seesaw starring: Robert Mitchum, Shirley MacLaine, Edmon Ryan, Elisabeth Fraser, Eddie Firestone
directed by: Robert Wise

VHS : Two for the Seesaw
I decided to watch "Two for the Seesaw" because it starred Robert Mitchum and I must say that this is one of his better movies. His strong, forceful "man in control" persona comes through very well. Unfortunately, that's the major problem I had with "Two for the Seesaw" because the lead male role calls, in my opinion, for a more bewildered man. Consider the plot's premise; A middle-aged lawyer from Nebraska comes to New York City to escape his marital problems at home. He meets a Greenich Village-type woman who's his complete oppostite and they attempt to ... Read More:

9.The Big Red One starring: Stéphane Audran, Ken Campbell, Robert Carradine, Joseph Clark (II), Howard Delman
directed by: Samuel Fuller
April 28, 1998
Average Rating: out of 5 stars

VHS : The Big Red One
No need to rehash plot points, but suffice it to say that The Big Red One - in all it's restored glory as Fuller intended - is a true masterpiece. One of the best WWII films ever made, with heartfelt performances and great action. Watching Mark Hammill empty a clip into the german soldier who took cover in the oven towards the end is one of the most chilling scenes in movie history - showing the reality of war and how brutal an affair it always is.

Disregard the idiotic complaints here...they are obviously written by kids with no appreciation for real film ... Read More:

VHS : Armageddon (1998)
This movie is one of the silliest, dumbest movies I have ever seen. When I saw this film, it was apparent that no thought, no research, no intelligence went into the writing at all. Let's start with the basic premise of the film. An asteroid is discovered and we have 17 days until it hits. What do we do? In the real world, we bend over and kiss our butt goodbye. There is absolutely *no* way a mission such as this could be planned, trained-for and executed in this time. 17 days wouldn't be enough time to prepare a standard shuttle launch, much less one with this type of mission. ...
