VHS : The Thorn Birds - The Complete Miniseries
Although most agree that this was a gripping storyline and a classic miniseries, there were some people that criticized Rachel Ward. I would like to point out the following:

1) She was extraordinarily beautiful, hard to look away from when she was on-screen. It was plausible that a priest or any other man would be drawn to her. I can't imagine a better-cast Meggie than Rachel Ward.

2) Ward did a remarkable job of portraying convincing love scenes with a gay actor (Richard ... Read More:

VHS : Hit List (1991)
As with any film starring Jan-Michael Vincent (Airwolf), it's got action. But he's not the main provider in this low-budget gem. Lance Henriksen (Aliens) is the man to watch. He walks the wild side as a psychopath who sells ladies shoes. He rarely speaks and doesn't need to. His violent actions and extreme appearance make it unnecessary. He's a real treat to follow. Leo Rossi (Relentless) is his usual cocky self as a mafia lieutenant snagged for the grand jury. Extra class is Rip Torn (Cross Creek) as the ... Read More:

VHS : The Civil War: Episode One - The Cause - 1861
This first video in Ken Burns' "Civil War" documentary focuses on the events that led up to the beginning of this terrible period in American History, such as Abraham Lincoln becoming President and the Deep South beginning to worry that their livelihood (slaves to pick their cotton ) would be taken away.

To me, the most interesting facet of this episode was how the issue of slavery had been a thorn in the side of the United States since the nation's very conception. It goes all the way back to the Constitutional ... Read More:

6.Chuck Jones - Extremes and In-Betweens, a Life in Animation starring: Ken Burns, Linda Jones Clough, Joe Dante, Roger Ebert, June Foray

VHS : Chuck Jones - Extremes and In-Betweens, a Life in Animation
Chuck Jones is an amazing director, but unfortunately this documentary is more a "celebration" of Jones--the kind of thing you might see at an awards show, only longer and more repetitive--than an in-depth look at his life or work. This DVD isn't worthless. You do get a couple of great cartoons and some mildly-interesting pencil tests. But your time and money would be better spent with Jones' own book (Chuck Amuck: The Life and Times of an Animated Cartoonist) or with the cartoons themselves.

VHS : Haunted Gold
I viewed this film for only one reason. It may not have been worth it. I wanted to see a film that contained the "Black Bird" used in "The Maltese Falcon" (1941).

Spooky town, sliding panels, mysterious tunnels, spooky eyes, and a phantom all have to be dealt with in this film. More still unrealistic characters, stilted dialog and a suggestion that the phantom had a watermelon accent.

Basic story is different owners and quasi owners of an abandoned gold mine were invites by cryptic letters promising it is worth the ... Read More:
