VHS : Uncle Tom's Cabin
This is a 90's film adaptation of Harriet Beecher Stowe's important novel by the same title. This story, and the message of the story, is of utmost significance. It is a tale in 1850's America of slave trading -- buying and selling people like they were property, and of cruel treatment that would be unacceptable for even zoo animals. Obviously, plantation life for the slaves could vary from reasonably comfortable to incredbly inhumane, depending mainly on the owner. The film story demonstrates ... Read More:

VHS : Ellen Foster
The Movie "Ellen Foster" followed the journey that a young abused girl takes to find a place to call home. Based on the book written by Kaye Gibbons, this horrifying but yet modern story makes the common day person thankful for their wonderful but not perfect life. With both famous screen stars such as Jena Malone and Amanda Peet and debuting cast such as Allison Jones, this movie is definetly one to put in a time capsul. Honorable mentions also include Kate Burton, Ted Levine, Julie Harris, Debra Monk, ... Read More:

VHS : Big Trouble in Little China
Big Trouble in Little China is a cult classic. Like most cult classics (Raising Arizona, Robocop, Matrix, Dumb and Dumber, etc.) you're either going to "get" this movie or you won't. The FX in this movie can be cheesy - they didn't have a huge budget. But what works fantastically with the script is the off the wall fusion of red neck machismo and Kung Fu mysticism. Kurt Russell gives a memorable performance as the fearless and not so bright hero of the story, all the while doing this lame John Wayne imitation ... Read More:

VHS : Equus
A well-directed arthouse style movie. It is disturbing but necessarily so...brilliant performance by Richard Burton!

5.Ice Storm starring: Kevin Kline, Joan Allen, Sigourney Weaver, Henry Czerny, Tobey Maguire
directed by: Ang Lee
October 13, 1998
Average Rating: out of 5 stars

VHS : Ice Storm
The Ice Storm directed Ang Lee is a strange and provocative film about swingers and families on the brink of chaos. An all-star helps which include Kevin Kline, Joan Allen, Tobey Maguire, and Christina Ricci. The characters are mainly lost and self-absorbed so don't expect strong and kind people here. Ricci's character is pretty sick and vile but she nails the performance. The ending is a bit of a letdown, this film is a mixed bag for me.

6.Ellis Island starring: Peter Riegert, Gregory Paul Martin, Claire Bloom, Judi Bowker, Kate Burton

I remember seeing this miniseries when it was first shown in the 80's. An epic miniseries than spans many years in the lives of an assorted cast of characters that include Faye Dunaway, Richard Burton, Ann Jillian and many others that went on to become familar faces on TV and film. As most miniseries from this era, there is adultery, murder and sex. If you get a chance to see this don't be discouraged by the length, sit back and enjoy. I only wish this were available on DVD!

7.Unfaithful (2002) starring: Diane Lane, Erik Per Sullivan, Richard Gere, Olivier Martinez, Myra Lucretia Taylor

I'm a big Richard Gere fan. And he doesn't dissappoint me in this movie. It's a good drama with a surprise. It's worth seeing and I enjoyed it very much- one of Richard's finer moments.

8.Love Matters starring: Griffin Dunne, Tony Goldwyn, Annette O'Toole, Kate Burton, Gerrit Graham

VHS : Love Matters
This is one of those talkie movies that can either be very engaging or extremely dull. Love Matters falls into the latter category. Not even the promise of hot sex spices up this bomb.
A man reluctantly allows his friend to come over to his house with his mistress (a pre-Showgirls Gina Gershon). The first man's wife (Annette O'Toole) is unhappy with her husband for endorsing his friend's adultery. They have their own marital troubles, sex being a big factor.
I saw the unrated version and I couldn't for the life of me figure out why it was unrated. ... Read More:

VHS : Diary of Ellen Rimbauer
A very strange story in this film. A story that does not look like Stephen King's traditional stories. Many things are different from what he has ever produced. Strangely enough it comes after the film "Rose Red" that is posterior in story time. This story is thus a prequel to the previously shot one. The element that is typically Kingian is the haunted house with some connection to Indians behind. But that is all. The story itself is some kind of distorted and warped "Gone with the Wind" in a setting that looks like and sounds like a Victorian house from England's ... Read More:

VHS : Star Trek: 30 Years & Beyond
Counting the WORST episodes of DS9,Voyager or Enterprise combined, this has to be THE WORST of all Star Trek related material in existance,by no means to be compared to the brilliant Star Trek: 25th Anniversary Special from five years earlier. This special represents the very worst of what happened to Star Trek after Gene Roddenberry died;the emphasis on a the financial francise results in this whole affair being total self parody. The whole affair is set in an award show format, already a warning sign for trouble and largely functions as a lot of canned jokes, lame ...
