VHS : One Against the Wind
Mary Lindell is a household name in Great Britain. Thank God that HALLMARK took the time to recreate her daringly true escapades in smuggling evaders into unoccupied zones during WW2. For dramatic purposes, much of ONE AGAINST THE WIND has been rearranged and condensed . As exciting as this presentation of Mary Lindell's exploits is, her real life was even MORE dramatic than what HALLMARK assembled!( Read the book NO DRUMS,NO TRUMPETS by J.B. Wayne!!!!!)

Nevertheless, this ... Read More:

LOVED IT: OHH FOR THE FADING DAYS OF DISCO. BYE BYE CLUB 21. NEW YORK IN GENERAL HAS NOT REALLY CHANGED. THEY JUST DRESS DIFFERENTLY NOW, AND GO TO DIFFERENT CLUB'S AND YOU HEAR DIFFERENT MUSIC. THE DOULBE STANDARD FOR MEN AND WOMEN HAVING SEX IS STILL IN PLACE. NOT MUCH IS CHANGED. I THOUGHT THAT ALOT OF WHAT I SAW ON THE DVD WAS EXACTLY THE WAY IT HAPPENED WHEN I GREW UP. IT WAS A TRIP DOWN MENOROY LANE. JM

VHS : Emma (1997)
I think, to a certain degree, comparison with Douglas McGrath's 1996 movie featuring Gwyneth Paltrow is inevitable. However, I must alert my reader to the fact that - when I praise this alternate version from Diarmuid Lawrence - I do so with the original novel in mind. This mini-series has not a movie's glamour, nor does Kate Beckinsale match Paltrow in beauty. However, with regards to Jane Austen's beloved work, this is undoubtedly the more faithful adaptation. Beckinsale's portrayal is less flighty and silly ... Read More:

VHS : Serendipity
Call me a wide-eyed ninny, but I bought into the film's premise. SERENDIPITY isn't a romantic comedy as much as it is a fantasy romantic comedy, and how much you like this film will depend in part on how much of a cynic or a dreamer you are. Me, I'm the wide-eyed ninny.

The story is about two people, Jonathan and Sara, who meet - and fall for each other - during one perfect New York evening five days before Christmas, but then decide to leave love to fate. If they meet again, then it was meant to be. But it ... Read More:

VHS : Pearl Harbor (Two-Videotape Set) (60th Anniversay Commemorative Edition)
This movie is so horrible I can't bring myself up to write a review for it. The acting is awful and fake. The story is untrue and the entire movie is badly done. I think 1 star is appropriate.

6.Underworld (Dol) starring: Kate Beckinsale, Scott Speedman, Shane Brolly, Michael Sheen, Bill Nighy
directed by: Len Wiseman
April 06, 2004
Average Rating: out of 5 stars

VHS : Underworld (Dol)
Underworld (Unrated) [Blu-ray] This is definitely on of the best movies combining Vampires and Werewolves. The special effects are excellent and Kate Beckingsale is excellent as the lead. I enjoyed and own both movies on Blu-Ray. And yes, the action is great and so is the mood of both films. I am waiting for a third in the series..

7.Van Helsing (Full Slip) starring: Hugh Jackman, Kate Beckinsale, Richard Roxburgh, Shuler Hensley, Will Kemp

I wonder if anyone made the castlevania connection?! This was a great film and if they were going by paintings they got Dracula dead on right!! (no pun intended)

This is one of my very favorite films, and I'm so glad to have a copy on DVD now. If you like Jane Austen, quirky Brittish films, or oddball humor, this movie is for you!

9.Much Ado About Nothing (1993) starring: Chris Barnes, Kate Beckinsale, Brian Blessed, Richard Briers, Richard Clifford

VHS : Much Ado About Nothing (1993)
I think this adaptation of "Much Ado About Nothing," I think is one of Shakespeare's best comedies, is a great film. It can function as a sort of introductory bit of Shakespeare, because this play mostly consists of characters exchanging witty banter, and the actors (Keanu Reeves very much aside) brought such life to the already hilarious words. From the straight forward interpretations of Beatrice and Benedick (Emma Thompson and director Kenneth Branagh, respectively), to the wild but captivating take on Dogberry (Michael Keaton), this movie bursts with ... I have to agree with the negative reviewers here, I have not read the book but books are always better than movies period. I hate these english actors that are cast as Americans, Beckinsale and Bale are the two prime examples but there are many more.

The acting was universally bad here as well, Nolte seems very wooden in particular but Beckinsale is not far behind, the only decent acting was by Uma Thurman.

This felt like an incomplete study throughout, by far the worst MI movie I've seen. MI should stick with the English Victorian/Edwardian ... Read More:
