This movie has a following, but as a Gary Cooper fan I don't think it's one of his best though good. I also have noticed the very high prices asked. In my experience on Amazon,if you don't purchase those very high priced ones they will come down. Cannery Row is an example. Not long ago I purchased a copy in poor shape for $25.71, now you can get a good one for around $16.00. When this gets down to a reasonable amount ,I will consider purchasing a copy. Maybe with luck it will be shown on TCM.

3.Ice Palace starring: Richard Burton, Robert Ryan, Martha Hyer, Jim Backus, Carolyn Jones

If only this was on DVD, but we can't have everything. Great story and better than fair acting. When it comes out on DVD I'll be buying it again, if only for the scenery.

4.Gallant Hours starring: Raymond Bailey, Robert Burton, James Cagney, Richard Carlyle (II), Ward Costello

Great performance by Cagney. As everyone else has mentioned - with so many BAD war movies out - where's the DVD of this?

5.The Birds (The Alfred Hitchcock Collection) starring: Malcolm Atterbury, Veronica Cartwright, Lonny Chapman, Richard Deacon, Ethel Griffies

VHS : The Birds (The Alfred Hitchcock Collection)
The Birds was the most ridiculous horror movie I've watched (and that includes The Evil Dead and other junk). Not only because of the lousy special effects - let's relegate those to the lack of technology. But the characters' reactions to the bird attacks often are preposterous. Let's pick the final scene when Miss Daniels hears a wing flutter and goes in the room at the top of the house, and see how many things are wrong with it:

1. Why would she go there?!
2. Why, after peeking into the ... Read More:

VHS : Lonely Are the Brave
'Lonely are the Brave' was the film that Kirk Douglas, himself, regards as his favorite. No, it's not a big Hollywood flash like 'Spartacus' but it is the subtle and tragic rendention of a time and life style already gone. It's a tale of the passing of the old West and the disappearance of men--independent men--who couldn't or wouldn't change.

Douglas--Jack Burns--in the film is a man intolerant of rules, fences and civilization. He's a cowboy with an ideology. His sense of honor is antequated, perhaps, ... Read More:

VHS : North to Alaska
Always known for his tough guy leading man roles, John Wayne takes a stab at a more comedic role with North to Alaska. It's 1900 in Nome and prospectors Sam McCord and George Pratt have struck it big with a claim that's bursting with gold. So with hopes of getting all the gold, McCord goes to Seattle with two goals, buy the necessary equipment and bring back George's fiance of three years. But in Seattle, Sam finds the fiance has married so he finds a different girl, a prostitute named Angel, with hopes of helping his friend out. But on the ... Read More:

VHS : No Name on the Bullet
I agree with all those positive reviews given to this film. The story is a very good one and Audie Murphy is just right in the part. It is amazing what sometimes can come out with quite little of money. This is not a shoestring film, but there is no waste of money. I watched just Murphy's Gunsmoke, which is not a great film, but he is good in it, too. He is not just natural, but can act. If you like westerns, see this film.
