| This is a wonderful film, superbly written and very well acted. It gives an idea of what it may have been like for the leaders of the early church, including the politics involved. I highly recommend it.

| This is a terrific series! The costumes and the actors are exceptional. My husband watched this story with me.
He is someone who loves your typical guy movie like "The Terminator". Trust me, when you can get someone like him watch this kind of series... it means it is a really a good one! |

| In 1998 I saw a great war film that was lost in the glare of the nearly simultaneous American film releases of Terrence Malick's remake of The Thin Red Line- which is a great film, and Steven Spielberg's cliché and stereotype-dripping Saving Private Ryan. It was a 1997 Canadian and British film called Regeneration, directed by Gillies MacKinnon (who directed The Playboys, and Small Faces), based upon the famed book of the same title by British novelist Pat Barker. | I enjoyed watching this, and others from the series, tremendously. The period setting is colourful and adventurous and makes a welcome change from the usual bang bang of US TV programmes. Production quality is excellent and with Bean and other fine actors at the helm what more could you ask for. Well worth the cost of a box set! |

| Three more chances to see our hero Richard Sharpe proceed into France with some of the best and one of the worst of the series. In SHARPE'S REGIMENT we get my favorite episode of the series and Sharpe and Harper travel back to England to try to find the missing 2nd regiment of the South Essex. The return of Sir Henry Simmerson, and the introduction of both Jane and Lady Anne Camoynes make the episode good, but the totally different setting and the look at the making of a British soldier makes it great. I don't know whether I've ever watched a film in which I identified more with all the characters than I did in this emotionally wrenching masterwork from the late, great Louis Malle. | First things first, read the Bernard Cornwell books *before* you watch the DVDs Sharpe's Rifles (Richard Sharpe's Adventure Series #6). The books are, as usual better, and you can make your own mental picture of Richard Sharpe, Sgt. Harper and the rest. One other thing, de aware that these are not feature film quality productions - they were TV shows on BBC in the 1990's.
