VHS : Gone To Texas
I did not particularly liked the movie. I think it was done on the cheap, too full of cliches, macho posturing, and as usual depicted the foes of Bowie, Crockett, and other defenders of the Alamo as unconscionable, mean people, misstatements, and with omissions of truths. I personally do not recommend the movie to anyone.

VHS : Tall Tale: Unbelievable Adventure
TALL TALE has the potential to be an excellent film. The possibilities of a tall tale adventure with Pecos Bill, Calamity Jane, Paul Bunyan, and John Henry should be great. This isn't.
The two stars I gave it are for two performances that head and pretty good cast and the music by Randy Edelmen (the genius behind GETTYSBURG's score). Patrick Swayze is an excellent actor, and now I fully appreciate his ability to turn a complete dud of a role into gold. He takes the role of Pecos, a shallow ... Read More:

VHS : Futureworld
Films buffs will want to know that the Spanish R2 'Mundo Futuro' DVD is missing footage. There are four cuts totaling 2.5 minutes of missing footage:

1. The pre-credit sequence is missing.
2. Some dialoge during the press invite, round table scene.
3. When Peter Fonda explores the remains of Westworld.
4. Dialogue at the very end.

Until a better version is released, your best bet is to pick up the R2 UK full frame edition which includes all of the above ... Read More:

VHS : Batman - Mask of the Phantasm
It would have been better if they would have taken an extra 15 mins. and showed the true back story of Bruce/Batman. For those who don't know, they should have had a few scenes of Bruce going to the theater with his parents and Joe Chill shooting his mother and father and the aftermath of that and a little bit of his childhood. In the comics it is refered to quite a bit either in flashback or as a mini story at the begining. In Superman Animated it shows Kal-El/Clark going through his 3 episode beginnings with ... I didn't feel that this adaptation of Irving's story stayed true enough to the original. The character development in the beginning was weak, and the encounter with Henry Hudson's crew was really stretched (unnecessarily). I was glad I didn't pay a lot of money for this.

VHS : Breathless (1983)
It took me a second viewing to really appreciate this film. Since then I have watched it many times.

This is one of the rare movies where Richard Gere has an equally attractive co-star (Valerie Kaprisky). Intersection with Sharon Stone would be another example.

Richard and Valerie are hard to beat as pure eye candy. They apparently agreed, as word has it that they embarked on a tempestuous affair after this film. I believe she was only nineteen when the movie was made.

The eclectic soundtrack ... Read More:

VHS : Runaway Train
I saw this many years ago and found it on sale recently. It is a superb movie, one of the best! The scenery is breath-taking, the plot rivoting, acting is top notch, and has a startling ending. There is also some rough language from the prisoners in the jail and the escaped convicts which I could have lived without, but it is realistically done.

Two prisoners escape from a maximum security prison and hop on board a train whose engineer dies, leaving the train as a runaway with nobody on board able to stop it. Jon Voight ... Read More:

VHS : Paper Moon (Widescreen Edition)
My husband and I watched PAPER MOON with our 11 year old daughter the other night. What a fun, sweet, thoroughly enjoyable family movie. I can't think of a better way to spend an evening at home.

Filmed in the early `70s in black and white, PAPER MOON tells the story of recently orphaned 9-year old, Addie, who falls in with con man Moses Pray. As it turns out, Addie is perhaps a better con than Moses is, and the two of them set out to relieve some unsuspecting widows of their butter and egg money. While swindling their way across the mid-west ... Read More:
