This is the best film version of the Tennessee Williams play, and one of the best transfers to film of one of his plays - right up there with the Kazan film of "A Streetcar Named Desire." I can still visualize so much of this film, it was that powerful - Joanne Woodward's "jonquils" speech, Malkovich's opening and closing monologues, Karen Allen's frightened, sensitive and shy portrayal, and James Naughton's kindly, clueless, then sensitive portrayal of the Gentleman Caller.

It is not surprising that this film, a work based on Joseph Conrad's thought-provoking novella of the same name, has garnered a wide variety of opinions and perspectives- just from the Amazon reviews alone! People saying its terrible, people who love it, even those who would have it as "art" above a normal television film. Well, I thought I'd add my two cents to the views already expressed. So here goes... First off, one who did not know any better would never be able to guess that it was made for TV. I mean where (in ... Read More:

My students really enjoyed this movie. We had read the book as a class and discussed it in detail. They all could not wait to see the movie when we finished. There were characters that they hated and characters that they loved. Over all, this movie was great! Thank you for such quick delivery of this product. Henrietta Presley

This is a fantastic true story about a boy, his mother and his family who are caught up in a communist revolution. If anyone is in doubt about what a choke hold communism can put on a country, see this movie. After you see the movie you might even come to the conclusion that US Senator Joe McCarthy(American patriot, anti spy - anti communist Senator who was railroaded by congressional liberals and the press to the point that his name was made into an adjective in American dictionaries. They made an outcast of him and forced ... Read More:

Two fine actors when they were still young and HUNGRY. If you like your acting brimming with absolute manic passion and pathos, then this is your new favorite. I first viewed this on a home made tape that my best friend's older sister had made from a PBS airing in 1983. She suggested that we watch it and that is how two 13 year old girls became utterly obsessed with the fantastically perverse story of two brothers locked in a battle of wills over the writing of a screenplay. While nothing about this production is "Hollywood" in any ... Read More:

I remembered watching this as a kid, so I searched the Internet to find it again. I hadn't seen it in over a decade, but it is still just as good as I remembered. This was an underrated special that should have been played every year, just like the classics of Rudolph, Frosty, and Garfield. Anybody of all ages will enjoy watching this. It is only 23 minutes, but you'll end up watching it over and over.

Death of a salesman is one of the best samples of the american drama that reflects the real life of the dream that is not even reached by american people.

I love Dustin Huffman play but all the characters are amazingly builded which make the sense of being at the teather.

John Malkovich is convincingly creepy and vicious in his role as an assassin turned maniac who wants to kill the president. Next to him, Clint Eastwood is a secret service man who failed to protect JFK. Their demons drive this excellent film, which is convincing and very involving.

It's an excellent movie and first class entertainment.
