VHS : The Perfect Weapon
This is a great movie. One of my all time favorites. Why it's not on DVD yet, when everything in DVD, is beyond me. Studio execs, listen up, this movie on DVD would sell big time!!!

2.Hard Justice starring: David Bradley, Charles Napier, Yuji Okumoto, Clabe Hartley, Benita Marti

VHS : Hard Justice
I've seen Hard Justice on cable a couple of times and I decided to buy the uncut, no commercial film version. I've seen it twice already. The special effects were explosive and the fighting scenes were fun to watch. It's really good to see David Bradley again in an action/adventure movie. The "love interest sparks" between Nick and Hannah were sweet. It fits well in the story even though there were mostly shooting, blowing cars, and lots of kick-butt fighting.

You know how airlines, aside from Quantas, don't show in-flight movies that involve crashes or hijackings?

Well, a ferry that I was on in eastern Indonesia showed this film, centered around a hi-jacked sinking ship, which was pretty funny considering their ferry system is plagued with sinkings and the country is also plagued with terrorists. The programming director for their ferries must be a true nihlist

What was even funnier was that the movie was subtitled in Thai, which meant ... Read More:

This movie is TERRIBLE. Anyone who's actually sat down and STUDIED this time period cannot watch this film without criticizing it. Yeah, sure, rural peasants who are so poor they live in the mountains eat fluffy rich-people white rice. Uh huh. And Japanese is SUCH an easy language to learn. If you want to make a film about Saigo Takamori and the Satsuma Rebellion, please do. It's a fascinating moment in history. But this exoticized, orientalist, American-centric pastiche masquerading as a historical drama is just made ... Read More:

VHS : Gasaraki - Fires of War (Vol. 6)
Here is a quote from earlier in the show:

"I would prefer to not make inquiries into affairs that are already in the past. However, I will not sit by and let the seeds of future problems take root."

Just as Daizaburou Gowa questioned Kazukiyo's intentions for sending the TA's to Belgistan, I have to question Charles Solomon's editorial review of this volume.

Yushiro and Miharu traveled to Kyoto (in the previous volume) 'following the path of the kai' in order to learn why the Kugutsu threw away ... Read More:

VHS : Gasaraki - The Summoning (Vol. 1)
The first thing you'll think when you watch this DVD it is: "What the heck are they doing with those robots". But by the fourt episode you will fully understand the story and will get into it.

I'm a fan of big robots and military stories, so if you're into this type of anime go ahead and get it. The main character is misterious and instantly drags you into the plot, and without you thinking about it you'll want to know what the purpose of the TA system really is. I give it four stars since the anime is a little too old ... Read More:

8.Gasaraki - Revelations (Vol. 5) starring: Chris Patton, Nobuyuki Hiyama, Mami Kingetsu, Monica Rial, Ted Pfister

VHS : Gasaraki - Revelations (Vol. 5)
This series is almost irritatingly slow-moving. I say almost, because it never quite becomes slow enough to give up on it...and there are so many details to absorb along the way, that the several subplots would be vague to the point of meaninglessness if they didn't take their time explaining each one, at little bit at a time, as they went.

Overall, the animation is extraordinary, physical and mechanical effects are outstanding for anything less than a feature film, and the plot is both intricate and interesting. A truly one-of-a-kind achievement ... Read More:

A film different than anything else that I have seen in a while. Very moving and insightful to the darkness of Hollywood.

10.Gasaraki - Betrayal (Vol. 3) starring: Nobuyuki Hiyama, Chris Patton, Mami Kingetsu, Monica Rial, Takehiro Koyama

VHS : Gasaraki - Betrayal (Vol. 3)
This series has the odd effect of not making any sense but yet still compelling to watch. Although some interesting things are answered on this DVD it asks far more than it answers. But the characters are starting to get deeper and not so wooden. The conspiracies are thick and nothing is what it appears. A healthy dose of mystery wraped in a large metal skin.
