| Leonardo Dicaprio's performance as an autistic teenager was absolutely superb. Johnny Depp's performance as a quiet, depressed and angst-ridden older brother was good as well, although he's more fun to look at than anything.:) The movie is very moving, and unlike anything I've seen. I really enjoyed it and would recommend it to people of all ages. |

| Our entire family loves this flick. Its a slapstick riot to be sure and the two Jims really make the movie. It boggles the mind that this hasnt seen a DVD release yet. I bet I could come up with a list of 1000 other flicks that are much less deserving, but yet we move on to blueray and Hi-Def with no release in sight for this comedy gem. Maybe the execs in charge of this release are all "tankin up" :<) |

| This review is from my wife Sarah: Never Been Kissed is one of my all time favorites. Drew Barrymore is absolutely believable and lovable as an intelligent but seriously geeky 25 year old writer who goes undercover as a high school student. In the course of looking for her story she must break into the "popular" click, but that's tough because inside she's still the same geek that she always was. | I felt like this movie did a lot of typical things movies of this sort do: bad things are going to happen to these plucky guys, so let's give you some back story so you sympathize with them. Some of the back story in this movie was pretty cheesy. The movie picks up once the storm rolls in, but the weather guy at the TV station in Boston commenting on the meteorology to bring you along was pretty cheesy, too. | A beautiful film about the Colorado River. The hero is the river and the nature it crosses, the gorges and the rapids and the falls. And you will go down the river in a light boat. Beautiful indeed. Then the film sets a plot on that river of a nice vacationing family held hostage by the surviving thieves of a cattle auction robbery who try to escape the police after the robbery by using the river and the expertise of the mother of this family. | 'Magnolia' is quite a film, and though I could find fault with it, it is almost too impressive and monumental to attack. It is kind of like a mosaic, where a lot of interrelated characters and intertwined stories keep our interest, keep us waiting to see how it will all connect and how all the story threads will be tied together--but some are while others end ambiguously. | I give Hard Eight a solid, four star rating. The movie doesn't have much in the way of a plot, it is often slow and a bit too artsy in certain areas, but what this movie has is great acting and great characters. The story is about an older guy who takes a younger guy under his wing and teaches him how to beat the gambling system. They become close friends, almost like a father and son. | The movie is GREAT, the way it was shot, the camera work, the exceptional action, the story-lines, everything! The masterful story developing when it goes through waves to culmination is mesmerizing.
I can't speak about this work otherwise as in superlative terms and it is why it had 10 academy nominations. The story is incredibly deep, the dialogs are unbelievably smart and trough to life.
