I remember watching this movie as a kid. It really has memorable songs, and cute aspects that make an otherwise violent subject (prohibition-era gangsters) humorous. It was cool finding a clean DVD.

2.Carny starring: Gary Busey, Jodie Foster, Robbie Robertson, Meg Foster, Kenneth McMillan

VHS : Carny
Gary Busey and Robbie Robertson hit the nail square on the head in their performance of Carny. Toss in Jodie Foster and you have a real tilt-a-whirl of a ride through the scenes in this movie. I rated it 4 stars and would give it 5 if it was on DVD. I worked several years in a stick joint pulling in quarters with one of the smaller shows. There is a lot of facts based on the carnival life and I was glad to have played a part. You don't see much of the mobster type which was big business several years ago. ... Read More:

This movie according to other reviews from previous buyers left me hoping for more. Frankly did not understand, maybe it was just me. Ellen Barkin is a beautiful lady, but was poorly utilized in this movie. Would not recommend to anyone. She wore that red dress out and constantly on the run.

This review will discuss the merits of the now rare and out of print Criterion Collection version of the film. One of the questions a viewer needs to ask him or herself is whether or not the added expense of a rare edition can be justified.

The Criterion dics presents the film in a letter boxed widescreen aspect ratio of 1.85:1 which appears to be the correct shooting format used by cinematographer Tak Fujimoto. The sound is standard 2.0 Dolby Surround. This is a fairly new film and the Criterion transfer ... Read More:

Our girls started with eyewitness Planets and our collection has grown. They love this video. It shows insects up close and explains a lot of the"ickiness" about them in a format that is interesting to children. Our kids are less intimidated because the understand why spiders spin web. They are fascinated by them now, instead of afraid.

VHS : Contact
Looking back in time modern science fiction had one of its main scientists, writers, philosophers and visionaires in one name: Carl Sagan, the author of the novel in which is based the movie.

The making of the movie gives a very near and sub-realistic intent in the searching of "green littles", all right that maybe means "live in Mars", "Aliens" or just "ET's" but in a very intelligent secuence. Jodie Foster who interprets the scientist Eleanor Arroway and in along the movie is the principal character (since the ... Read More:

It's Friday the 13th, and tomboy thirteen-year-old Anabel Andrews (Jodie Foster) and her more level-headed mother Ellen (Barbara Harris) are at odds again, causing each to wish they were in the other's shoes. Both seem to think the other has it easy, and they soon find out otherwise when their wish comes true and their spirits swap bodies inexplicably! Now in her mother's body, Anabel discovers that Ellen has more to do all day than sit around watching TV and eating junk, and also that her dreamy daddy (John Astin) isn't all he's cracked ... VHS : Tom Sawyer
This is a favorite from my childhood. I saw it in the theatre when it was first released, and I owned the album and the (widescreen) laser disc.

I was so disappointed to see that this was a full frame transfer, and a lousy one at that! One of the biggest thrills of this movie was its wide open vistas of the Mississippi River and the wonderful cinematography. This DVD release from MGM/UA is grainy, dark and at times fuzzy. The sound is terrible too, and it was terrific on the laser disc in 5.1 surround. You're missing the wonderful, ... Read More:
