| This is the best film version of the Tennessee Williams play, and one of the best transfers to film of one of his plays - right up there with the Kazan film of "A Streetcar Named Desire." I can still visualize so much of this film, it was that powerful - Joanne Woodward's "jonquils" speech, Malkovich's opening and closing monologues, Karen Allen's frightened, sensitive and shy portrayal, and James Naughton's kindly, clueless, then sensitive portrayal of the Gentleman Caller.

| I remember my parent's taking my brother, sister, and I as kids to see this movie. (A LONG time ago)
I found it hilarious as a child, and watched it several times as an adolescent on cable. I ordered it because I remember Dom DeLuise being SO GREAT as Sonny's best INSANE friend trying to help him kill himself. Throughout the years my family has kept phrases from this movie alive. | I first watched this movie in the late '70s - my mom made me sit down and watch it. It was presented as a "Hallmark Hall of Fame" made-for-TV movie. As it turns out, it is one of the best movies I have ever seen, holiday or not. It will make you laugh and cry, and may even render some goosebumps with the point it makes about life. If you have not seen this movie, please give yourself a treat at Christmas and sit down to watch this movie with family and friends - you won't be sorry. |

| I bought this video because i am a big fan of joanne woodward and like others have difficulty finding dvd's of her films. Anyway this film did not disapoint she and brian denehy turn in wonderful performances as the two middle-aged american strangers on a trip to the uk. This is a gentle story about two people getting to know one another faults and all and falling in love along the way, a very good film a recommend it. |

| It is just a wonderful movie that did not get any play in the theatre or anywhere else. I rented it for the first time because of the cast and loved it, that is why I have added it to my collection. If we all live long enough we will go through the same thing, it's also a different period of time, but I could relate since I was on the fringe of that generation and as I look at things now maybe it was not all that bad.
