| i paid $26 plus S&H for a VHS tape that does not play well, the video fades in and out, goes completely white at times, and is of poor quality. In it's present form it is not even worth trying to watch it again. I was greatly disappointed in watching it... |

| This film is a true original. If one were to nutshell it you could call it a surreal dark comic western. It's rare that you get such individualistic talents as director John Huston, writer John Milius, and actor Paul Newman together for one project. It's rarer that the result produces gold. Huston, with some exception, was something of a cynic in his work. Milius, considered something of a bad boy in Hollywood, was known for his conservative political bent. | As usual it is a typical great John Wayne movie. (I'm partial to any of his movies.) A good portrayal of a time when horseless carriages were joining horse and wagon. The supporting roles are well played. His son, Patrick Wayne along with Christopher Mitchum do a very good job of portraying two dissimilar sons that have not seen their dad in a long while. Richard Boone adds to the character of the film and of course Maureen O'Hara is as natural as ever as an actress. Bruce Cabot is a long standing support ... Read More: |

| I made the mistake of buying the CheezyFlicks DVD of Convoy. This movie was shot in Panavision which is an anamorphic process whereby the camera lens "squeezes" the image horizontally to fit in a normal 35mm frame. The picture is then "unsqueezed" to an aspect ratio of 2.4:1 by the projection lens.
The "widescreen" CheezyFlicks DVD has an aspect ratio of about 1.85:1 and the image remains "squeezed" so that everything -- people, trucks, scenery -- is shown at about half its proper width. The distortion is ... Read More: |
