| great, enjoyable movie. beautiful soundtrack. just wish r. donner had done more with the man of steel just like g. reeves. foiling a bank robbery, bending steel bars, jumping out of a window, fight scenes with the bad guys. the scene when the bullets bounced off superman in the tunnel should have been left in the theatrical version. it's the 30th anniversary of the 1978 movie. i'm sure WB will re-release an expanded edition with all the deleted scenes that were never shown. i have VHS copies of the TV ... This was a period of time when MGM and the other motion picture giants were trying to get used to the Hayes Code and get the censors off their backs. The censors were leading a call to boycott movies due to their lack of morality. MGM set about calming the situation down by making a series of expensive, wonderful films from the classics. | i've enjoyed it very much; it was better than III. a lot of crucial scenes were cut out in 4. i hope they'll release a special edition in the future. i still want to see those scenes placed into the movie. there were a lot of flying sequences that were nice. Superman the movie 1978 will be 30 years old. enjoy. i still miss c. reeve. |

| I remember this movie on television when I was a teen. It was very powerful and moving then. It truely left an impression on me. I recently purchased it on DVD. Now it's my 15 year old daughter's turn to see this wonderful movie. |

| At remember as soon as I finished watching the first Superman movie, I was straight online to get the rest. I ended up buying Superman II, and Superman Returns, but adding Superman III & IV to my wishlist. Thank God I didn't buy the lot. Because that would have been a big mistake.
Before people start judging, I have not seen the Richard Donner cut of Superman II. Judging my some reviews, it sounds better, but there's also a lot of reviewers who say this version, directed by David Lester, is great. Obviously we watched a different movie. ... Read More: |
