Ok. For starters this is an adorable little movie about one "orphans" struggle to belong and find happiness. Its not supposed to be historicaly accurate it never CLAIMED to be historically accurate. Your supposed to take it for what it is instead of throwing and excpecting all these hidden meanings in it. Yes, Rasputen is a very graphic character but any reviews of him "scarring your children for life" should be COMPLETELY disregarded as having a very wimpy child and nothing more. For christs sake ... One of those movies you watch every time it comes on television because it's so cute, yet one of those movies you're almost ashamed to adore because it has almost no redemptive features; `Pretty Woman' has become an instant classic for almost no reasons at all. Sure, it's cute, but so aren't a lot more respectable films.

Oh yeah, I forgot; Julia Roberts is amazing here.

So, that answers all questions doesn't it? Why do we love this movie? We love it because it gave us Julia, ... Read More:

Considering the quality of this film, one would think that it should have won more awards, more acclaim. One factor might have been that anyone under the age of 46 in 1994 would have had little or no recollection of the television scandals which "broke" in 1959. Secondly, since there were no laws pertaining to television ethics, nobody went to jail. Indeed, years later, the "Bobsey Twins"- Jack Barry and Dan Enright were right back at it again making handsome sums on "The Joker's Wild". Additionally, let's not forget ... Read More:

Excellent film/documentary on the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising. A must see for history buffs and anyone wanting to know more about WWII and the Holocaust. Very moving and leaves the viewer with a deep admiration for the brave men and women that, while knowing they could not defeat the Nazis, still preferred to fight until death.

I decided to watch this the other night, despite its reputation as a really bad film. Well, my low expectations were met. It's an OK concept (rejected superheroes team up to gain self respect), but the execution of the film is all wrong. It might have been better (though not by much) as a sketch, not a full length feature film (and it's a relatively long film at 2 hours). It has a great cast (William H. Macy, Greg Kinnear, Geoffrey Rush, Janeane Garofalo, Hank Azaria), but here they try way too hard to make this film "hip" and "cool", and they ... Read More:
