| i just saw this movie early this morning i was able to see only 75 to 80 percent of it because i was still in bed very tired but when i saw legendary actor paul newman in it i decided to give it a shot paul newman was good as harry keach in it he was serious but yet adding a little bit of comedy acting he plays a strict father who was very tough on his son and wanted him to grow up by being able to take care of himself he lost his wife in the life and had a difficult time continuing with the rest ... | Supposedly this was the film that brought Al Pacino back from the dead so-to-speak.
Um, for real? Okay, so this is not a horrible movie, but Al Pacino is the films weakest link (or is that the script). The film is far from thrilling, which is sad because it had that kind of potential. It also lacks the sensuality that would have brought the film to a different level. | This movie according to other reviews from previous buyers left me hoping for more. Frankly did not understand, maybe it was just me. Ellen Barkin is a beautiful lady, but was poorly utilized in this movie. Would not recommend to anyone. She wore that red dress out and constantly on the run. |

| This movie surprised and charmed me with its orignality, humour and depth.
People living in the slums of Dublin experiencing the unnamed pain of being cut off from their cultural roots and unable to express their personal grief. But for all of that, I laughed and laughed at some of the scenes of the children and the horse... in the lift, racing across Ireland. Wonderful. Powerful. |

| This is a film where the whole is greater than the sum of it's parts. It is well written, cast, acted and directed, yet the overall final product is one of the best "quiet" films ever. I'm not a country music fan, but the music is perfectly in context with the story and one compliments the other extremely well. This may be Robert Duvall's finest work. I think if it came out in 2008 it would contend for Best Picture honors. |

| This is a very bad video. A weak plot about hospitals and machines trying to kill patients and a lack of sympathetic characters explains why this was not given a theatrical release and went straight to video. David McCallum turns in a good performance, but he is wasted on a weak script. The best thing about this is the music, by Shadows drummer Brian Bennett, which heightens suspense where applicable and keeps well into the background at other times. I want two hours of my life back. I struggled to stay awake during this convoluted story which is marred by bad acting, bad dialogue, and is essentially a pretty bad and predictable movie.
