Tommy Dorsey and Ginny Sims are allways great and Nancy Walker is a hoot. The VHS tape is OK but it should have been on Laserdisc. The DVD is over due. Hurry Up Warners!! |

| There is NO argument! This is THE BEST SNL ALUMNI MOVIE EVER!!! Not only is it FUNNY, but it's also intelligent. This is one of those movies that you just have to watch every time it's on tv even though it is cut horribly for tv.
DVD or Blu-ray is THE way to watch this movie in all of it's glory. In fact, it's become a 'Christmas' movie at out house. I have literally watched this movie and then gone back and watched it again. THAT'S how GREAT this movie is! |

| I must have read Dreiser's "Sister Carrie" in college 25 years ago, and I teach American literature at the high school level, but I barely remembered the novel and so decided to re-read it this summer, in two different versions-- manuscript and published 1906 version,Sister Carrie (Norton Critical Editions). And I also decide to see the film, which I liked so much that I bought a copy.

| You don't get many opportunities to see Ethel Merman sing in films unfortunately, but this one has her in a couple of wonderful numbers, starting off with the outstanding Earful of Music which she does in a department store where she's selling sheet music. | I think "Beverly Hills cop III" was an extremely regrettable turning point in the nice career of one of the most talented and funniest black comedians Hollywood has ever seen - Mr. Eddie Murphy. Before it he used to be funny or at least much funnier. He appeared in the rather enjoyable flicks like "48 Hrs.", "Coming to America", "Another 48 Hrs.", "The Distinguished gentleman", "Boomerang" and of course "Beverly Hills cop I & II" - two beloved movies that will always be his very best works.
