VHS : The Rebels: Part 2 of the Kent Family Chronicles
i love john jakes kent family novels but i have to say the rebels was the least of the books.very little war happens in it and the two main people the novel follows never meet.
well the mini-series takes care of all of that and is a very good rousing adventure story with a great cast and the best sound track of any of the jakes mini-series. andrew stevens once again plays philip kent and is joined by a young don johnson as judson flecher. the action flows nicely in this one and the cast is great. ... VHS : Humanoids From Deep
Noticeably taking several cues from big budget horror films, Humanoids from the Deep still manages to create an enjoyable atmosphere and a few unique thrills to retain an air of originality. Combining an infinitely absurd plot with serious actors, decent gore effects, gratuitous nudity, and a pervasive foreboding score from James Horner culminates in a low budget horror flick that nearly breaks free of such impediments to offer plenty of scares and laughs, mostly in that order.

In this Roger Corman ... Read More:

VHS : Land That Time Forgot
I hear the complaints about the special effects, but this is coming from our (spoiled) age of hi-tech glamour, where the animals are so spoon-fed real now you practically don't have to use your imagination at all anymore! I'm sure in 30 years people will laugh at the effects in JP #3 and say a kid could do better graphics on their toy PC...........anyway, I'm nostalgic.
I remember seeing this movie as a kid and I thought it was HUGE. What a cool story! A lost unknown island in the Antarctic, where dinosaurs ... Read More:

VHS : Riders in the Storm
As far as westerns or comedies go this film is not that great, but as a western comedy this film is absolutely fabulous. It is not dramatic nor is it historical, but funny it is. I watched "Riders in the Storm" expecting to see a bunch of gunfighters and saloons in the old west, which is what one would might expect just glancing at the cover, but this movie is far from it. This is a hilarious movie about a few people who set off on a rescue mission in the old west. Your teenage children will never stop laughing as they watch ... Read More:

VHS : Caged Hearts
Is it fair to call 'Caged Hearts' one of the most important and worthwhile films of the decade? Absolutely. In a world in which racial profiling, unfair trials, and trials that are not handled fairly exist, it is only logical that there might be underground organizations in which those atop the penal system degrade and prostitute young women who bare the robes of the prison lifestyle. This mesmerizing film brings to light many questions. First of all, what happens when a judge atop the penal system intentionally obstructs justice ... Read More:

Excellent film. I never heard of this movie & iam a huge fan of Audrey Hepburn. This film which is such a powerful western about racism & shows us what true love is , remains a forgotten classic which will hold & command anyones attension who is fortunate to see this movie. Hepburn is so beautiful & earthy , I never saw her like this. Watch it! You won't be sorry!

10.52 Pick Up starring: Roy Scheider, Ann-Margret, Vanity, John Glover, Robert Trebor

VHS : 52 Pick Up
Clarence Williams played a reprehensible scumbag on this one. I guess when you're not offered much in quality movies, you get what you can. John Glover's "Sport" was really annoying. But then again, it must've worked well, because I really hated him throughout the entire movie.

The reviewers who think this was Roy Scheider's best performance, are nuts. What about "French Connection?" or "The Seven-Ups?" or even "Sorcerer?" This was not one of his best. This film was not "Ahead of its time" - it was a 1980's film; and looked it. ... Read More:
