VHS : Evening Star
By the time Jack Nicholson shows up for about five minutes of screen time as Garrett Breedlove, this turgid 1996 sequel to 1983's Terms of Endearment has already slogged through two deaths, a psychotherapist with an Oedipal complex, and a lot of scrapbooks. The problems with this shamelessly manipulative movie are many, and they all begin with the inevitable premise that tough Texas matron Aurora Greenway can carry on without being challenged by her feisty daughter Emma. However, without Debra Winger's ... Read More:

I did not particularly liked the movie. I think it was done on the cheap, too full of cliches, macho posturing, and as usual depicted the foes of Bowie, Crockett, and other defenders of the Alamo as unconscionable, mean people, misstatements, and with omissions of truths. I personally do not recommend the movie to anyone.

It has been a very long overdue to release this remarkable movie in DVD. A great film and very moving performance by Joanne Woodward (among her best performances along with her work in Sybil).

The title says it all, because I really love this movie. Marie Osmond and Tomothy Bottoms give a really great and believable, yet entertaining performance in this warm hearted, charming and romantic story. I really loved some of the dresses that Marie wore in the film. They were beautiful and elegant. I loved this movie when it first was shown on tv, and still love it today. This movie continues to be charming and entertaining. I especially loved the ending. The Gift of Love

When I first saw this movie,it was a sneak preview with the premiere of Blade Runner, another Sci-Fi classic.I had gone to the movie alone, with my friend "Laughing Sam's Dice"...ok?Anyway,I was just melting into my seat in total connection with the first feature, and in all honesty partway into The Thing, for the first time in my movie career,I walked out,sat in the parking lot trying to compose myself to drive home.I have to consider this like an award level!Present day movie-goer's would consider it differently, the perspective ... I too would like to see this movie on DVD. I saw it on TV several times in past years, and enjoy the thought of Amy Madigan and Ed Harris starring together in a romantic movie, while they are man and wife in real life. They are both excellent actors, and I would love to have this in my DVD collection

I liked this movie as much now as I did when I originally watched it. I purchased it to watch with my daughter and she too enjoyed it. I think that Harrison Ford did an excellent job.

I don't tend to watch movies over and over. However, I do have favorites and do watch them again and again over the years. For both my wife and me, this is the number one favorite. We watch it about twice a year. As others here have mentioned, it is a mood elevator. I ease into it with anticipation until the chair shopping scene. After that, I just go with the flow of it on my cloud nine all the way through.

I really enjoyed this movie. It was a real story of real people who were trying to make a difference in the world.

VHS : Showdown (1973)
A very fine western,. Suspensful. A different western, but still classic in many ways. Dean Martin is truly great in this one. It is a very sad movie also. As a viewer you get very much engagedand involved. I came to hate Rocks Hudson's character, or not the charatcter itself but the way he behaved, his foolish stubbornes.
