VHS : Revenge of the Creature
'Revenge of the Creature' is a pretty good sequel to the original but, there are several reasons for it not receiving a 5 star rating like the first movie. First of all, I find the changes to the Creature's head piece a big mistake. The "fish-like" eyes on the original were replaced with "bug-like" eyes or bulging eyes and the head is very fat and round shaped. This makes the Creature look sort of fake to me. They also didn't bring Ben Chapman back to play "The Gillman" on land in this film. I found ... Read More:

VHS : Beginning of the End
The Beginning Of The End shows us the terrifying scenario of what could happen if Illinois were to come under attack by an army of giant grasshoppers(it's a fear I've struggled with for years).
In the film, entomologist Peter "Have you ever seen a grown man naked?" Graves and his deaf/mute botanist partner have succeeded in using radiation to grow large fruits and vegetables. The idea is to end world hunger, but who wants to eat radioactive fruit? Grasshoppers eat the food, grow enormous and destroy half ... Read More:

VHS : Atom Man Vs Superman
Atom Man Vs. Superman' is the second of 2 Columbia Pictures' Superman serials and is clearly superior to the first. Once you liberate yourself from modern expectations regarding budget, special effects, realism, etc., you can sit back for 15 chapters and enjoy the earnestness and charm of the actors, and the free-wheeling fantasy of the storyline.

Frankly, there are lots of problems with this serial, but it succeeds by virture of its inventiveness and the level of imagination.

It is best to watch the old ... Read More:

VHS : The Lost Volcano
I've had an enduring crush on that golden-haired Adonis, Bomba the Jungle Boy, since I first beheld him back in the late 40s. Watching this video brings back the joys of studying Johnny Sheffield, who was so captivating as Boy, in the Tarzan movies. Here you see Boy all grown up--and wooo, is he one sexy young hunk! He was the Brad Pitt pin-up of the late 40s and 50s. Although the Bomba movies were made on a modest scale, they're still charming, harmless entertainments for the whole families. Bomba never gave his female co-stars even a peck on the cheek. His sole ... Read More:

VHS : Casualties of War
My last review was a snazzy/cute little Hollywood war flick. Here's one that definitely doesn't rely on big explosions, an imaginative script, or computer-generated effects.

War produces true heroes, some extremely brave men and women that stand tall for justice. But unfortunately harsh combat can also expose the darker side of humanity. Hollywood took some liberties with this movie of course, but it is sadly based on true events that took place in '66.

In this role, Sean Penn has ice in his veins. He plays the ruthless sergeant that ... Read More:
