| This film gets better and better each time I watch it. I never seem to tire of it. It has a fantastic poetic quality that takes it's cues from the novel. One of the greatest love tragedies I have ever come across. Not demon film everyone makes it out to be. A masterpiece in every sense of the word and Lyne's best film.
A must see for anyone who loves a good, honest love tale. |

| I can't believe everyone is so critical against this movie. It could be an age difference. First of all, Dominique Swain is one of the most talented yet unnoticed actress. Thora Birch had a small part which was cute and funny.
And what high school movie do guys not want to have sex? It would be weird if they didn't. Sure what the girls planned was outrageous and not meant to be literally done but it brings up a very good point of how guys get away with saying and doing anything to girls and we're supposed to sit ... | This isn't your typical teenage flick, no; it's far worse, the acting is substandard and someone forgot to have a plot. I purchased this DVD at the request of my daughters, they are Brad Renfro fans but even they were disapointed. I recommend renting this first before you purchase a DVD, you may save yourself a little green. |

| This is a movie I did not fully appreciate until after it was over and I wanted to watch it again. The premise is, poor girl Alicia goes to a rich person's school where everyone except her is amoral, meaning in plain English they like sex and drugs. But wait a minute. Who is really into sex and drugs in this movie? Who is really envious of whom? Alicia, who is supposed to be the moral poor girl, ends up in hospital due to a drug overdose.
