Terrific true story! Exhilarating and exuberant; a must see for the whole family. An amazing account of the triumph of tolerance over bigotry. Definitely a keeper. Denzel Washington shines as Coach Boone in one of his finest roles, and there are NO weak supporting actors or roles.
Superbly directed and all other production values are also top notch. And, oh yeah, it's also a great football movie! But it is so finely crafted, it could have been about CHESS teams and still have the ... Read More:

This is a great historical film that really captures the spirit and conditions faced by the soldiers of the Massachusetts 54th Regiment.

VHS : Malcolm X (2pc)
I could easily have given this movie five stars on the acting alone. But I had to take out one star for a few inaccuracies in the movie plus the movie left out certain elements in his life that I felt were important(like his speech to the Africans in Africa that the blacks in America had the same struggle that they had) but dont mistake my tone because I still recommend it flaws and all.

Malcolm X details the life of the controversial yet charismatic figure that sought to deal with the injustices ... Read More:

Does anyone know if this DVD has been re-released? I have the original DVD when it first came out and you have to flip the DVD over to see the last 20 minutes of the movie and that's not cool.

7.Philadelphia starring: Tom Hanks, Denzel Washington, Roberta Maxwell, Buzz Kilman, Karen Finley

This is, by far, one of the best movies. The story is moving, and will have you in tears multiple times. Tom truelly shines, and is one of the few actors that you no longer see as a person, but as their character. Very emersed. This will also question your thoughts and beliefs, and possibly make you reconsider the next time youre about to make a snap judgement.

8.John Henry starring: Denzel Washington, B.B. King

VHS : John Henry
I am a recent convert to "Rabbit Ears" videos...none have appeared on DVD to date, so these are buried treasures. Most of the animated folk tales are very well done. The story of John Henry (the boy who was born with a hammer in his hand) is recited in a folksy manner by Denzel Washington...but the music of B.B. King takes this simple film over the top. If you find this VHS interesting, take a look at the "Emperor and the Nightingale" - my personal favorite - or "How the Leopard Got His Spots" - all by Rabbit Ears. I have ... Read More:

Good story that unfortunately can be true. Denzel Washington did as expected a great job. Very emotional story about how a hard case former intel officer with a questionable past softens by the affection of a little girl. A movie that is worth watching several times.. Try not to have any distractions while watching as there are many details that may be missed such as facial expessions and other manerisms.

10.Power (1986) starring: Richard Gere, Julie Christie, Gene Hackman, Kate Capshaw, Denzel Washington
directed by: Sidney Lumet
April 01, 1992

VHS : Power (1986)
I was educated, enlightened and entertained by this film two decades ago, and I still am. The lines in it are witty and they capture a political life perfectly. There are a lot of great moments - the pollster/computer guy Ralph explaining his work to candidate Fritz Weaver, Gere chastising a governor's assistant for petty bureaucratic moves which could jeopardize the campaign, Hackman drunkenly chastising Gere about taking on perverted candidates, Christie ferreting out E.G. Marshall's reasons for senate retirement.... Yes, there ... Read More:
