VHS : Pimpernel Smith
Pimpernel Smith is one of Leslie Howards last films before his untimely death during WWII. Howard was reaching his prime as an actor, a director and a producer. This film, in which Howard is the star as well as director and producer, is a delight to watch, creating suspense and a slow build to excitement. It is not an "in your face" film, but rather a slower moving but cleverly written indictment against the Nazis who, by this time, had been bombing England for over a year.
Clever writing, wonderful acting and a story ... Read More:

VHS : Fiendish Plot of Dr Fu Manchu
I'm a little surprised that there are a few good reviews for this film on here.
I saw it in a theatre shortly after the death of Peter Sellers in 1980 and was saddened to think this was his last film. It was spectacularly unfunny and the last we would ever see of him (although I liked the rejuvenated Fu Manchu appearing in Elvis regalia at the climax).

If you haven't seen this ... Read More:

Here is a typical little English comedy, of those Sellers did before he was an established international star! The film is enjoyable, has a good hearted humour and was loved by the audience (that's why there was a sequel made, but unfortunately without Sellers). And what a brilliant idea-some navy people in an almost forgotten ship, have turned their ship into a very profitable shop! When some official finally visits them, they have to "disguise" their business and keep it going! One of the funniest versions of corruption! sellers' is great, teamed with ... Read More:
