| For the most part, this is a good film: well-written, well-photographed, well-directed and well-acted. But for me, Gene Tierney simply does not have the beauty or strength or charisma that the part of Laura seems to call for. She's certainly pretty, but not beautiful or striking. She's competent, but I wouldn't call her brilliant. I'm told that she is all these things but I really can't see it for myself. | This is a nice family movie that is worthwhile watching more than once not only by its great music but by Clifton Webb's acting. I hope to be able sometime within the near future to obtain a copy in DVD format. |

| This is a great movie that most people have never heard of. An all star cast in Cinemascope and Technicolor, this forgotten gem should be on DVD. Better yet, Fox, how about putting together a Clifton Webb DVD box set with some of his classic performances including this movie, Sitting Pretty (another neglected jewel) and the other 2 Mr. Belvediere movies, Stars and Stripes Forever and The Remarkable Mister Pennypacker to name a few. Give us a break, Fox! |

| Maggie McNamara plays a secretary in embassy in italy so well! yest is is forgotten today...a suicide in nyc inthe 60's or 70's. she couldnt get work as an actress because of a movie she made after 3 coins called THE MOON IS BLUE...with david niven and wm holden(i think) about i gal haveing 2 boyfriends/lovers...it was panned as outrageous can you believe it? ihave seen it and nothing os the sort is true. maggie did a fine job but the critics banned this film! and it followed her until her death. wht a loss!! ...
