VHS : The Dollmaker
Jane Fonda is unforgettable as a resourceful, unassuming, uniquely gifted, remarkably loyal, and courageous country woman. Her husband, a struggling Appalachian sharecropper, finds a job in the big city of Detroit in the early twentieth century. Believing he has found a better life for his family, he sends for them. They uproot themselves from their familiar rural homeland, and join him in a crowded, dehumanizing, housing development set up for factory workers. Soon the family, and the main character ... I've loved this movie for years and bought this dvd to replace my old vhs version. I was surprised to find only one disc and moreso to discover that it is reversible. When it came to the end of side one I wasn't sure what to do, but tried flipping it over and sure enough, there was side two. I didn't know there was such a thing and a couple of friends I asked didn't know it either. I don't buy a lot of current dvd's, maybe this is old stuff, but it was news to me..lol..

VHS : Gypsy (1993)
It looked good on paper: Powerhouse performer Bette Midler playing the most famous role in musical theater, directed by Emile Ardolino, the guy who turned "Dirty Dancing" into a national phenomenon. So what went wrong? The truth is, Midler simply isn't a good enough actress to capture the subtleties of as complex a character as Momma Rose. She's all big eyes and broad gestures, waving arms and manic mood swings; it's a community theater performance, going for the obvious at every turn. Is Rose manic and driven at ... Read More:

VHS : My Favorite Martian
I can't believe that I laughed so much at this bit of fluff! When My Favorite Martian came on the T.V. and my daughter wanted to watch it, I groaned and focused my attention on my computer. Then she started laughing-then I noticed that 'Uncle Martan' was played by Christopher Loyd(sp)-before I knew it I was watching this silly, funny movie and couldn't stop. I won't go into details about the humor-I'll just say it's a great family movie that even an old foggie like me can enjoy!

7.Dead Again starring: Jo Anderson, Obba Babatundé, Raymond Cruz, Patrick Doyle, Richard Easton (II)

VHS : Dead Again
Kenneth Branagh's film Dead Again is a superbly crafted thriller that cleverly combines film noir, supernatural suspense, melodrama, and romance. Branagh (Henry V) pulls double duty, both directing and starring in this stylish update of the mystery genre. The film stars Branagh and his wife Emma Thompson in dual-roles, as well as featuring an impressive supporting cast including Andy Garcia, Derek Jacobi, Hanna Schygulla, Wayne Knight, and Robin Williams.
The film utilizes all of the trappings of a Hitchcock picture, while ... Read More:

VHS : Til There Was You
'Til There Was You
This is a lovely film. Romantic and quirky, with highly enjoyable performances by Jeanne Tripplehorn, Dylan McDermott and a pre-SATC turn by Sarah Jessica Parker. I live in Los Angeles, CA where the film takes place, and the settings feel oh, so familiar.
There are some elements that recall other favorites of mine: Frequency and Sliding Doors. For a while, 'Til There Was You was so rarely on television that finally, I purchased it.
