VHS : Mansfield Park
Mansfield Park I a geat show about a girl who goes to live with her astranged relatives. The never really treat her with any sort of respect. From the beginning Fanny (the main character) is in love with the only person in the house who actually does have respect for her. But as always in a good story you have to have opposition and there is plenty in this story. Fanny has to deal with lazy drunken boy cousins, easy jelous girl cousins, and neighbors who are some of both. In the end well... ... Read More:

VHS : The General
"The General" and "The Twilight Zone" are, in my opinion, the two most brilliantly conceived films ever made. "The General" keeps you glued to the screen, with sight gag after sight gag. Keaton was a genius and this was never more evident than this movie. Kino did a super job of offering three different music scores, each giving new life to the film. I personally recommend Robert Isreal's score as it's more comical than the "adventuresome" score Carl Davis did. Don't buy the cheap release with generic ... Read More:

VHS : Ideal Husband (1999)
Everybody likes Oscar Wilde. Some even feel sorry for him. But he doesn't need our pity: we need his wise and witty insight.

Oliver Parker really likes Oscar Wilde. He's done An Ideal Husband in 1999 (director, screenplay, and plays a character called Bunbury); The Importance of Being Ernest in 2002, (director and screenplay); and is working on his version of Dorian Gray which will be released in 2009. This is a look at the 1999 film.

It's probable that the big screen treatment and some well ... Read More:

I haven't seen this film since the 1950's, Million Dollar Movie, Channel 9 in NY. Great to see it again. Great to see people climb more of the mountain than today. I highly reccomend it to anyone who loves/likes climbing and/or camping.

VHS : Coming Home
Translating a lengthy book to the movie screen is never easy, but this adaptation captures the essence of the story and the times. The scenery chosen and the costumes are great, while the cast is filled with familiar faces you love to see (Peter O'Toole, Joanna Lumley, Susan Hampshire, David McCallum, Penelope Keith). The indepth details/characterizations of the book may be missing - time alone would dictate that - nevertheless, the cast draws you into the story. Like a good book, you don't want to put it down....but watch to the very end and want more. ... Read More:
