VHS : The Thorn Birds - The Complete Miniseries
Overall well produced TV series and I watched intently with many emotions of passion, heartache, compassion, and joy for characters portrayed. The Stanwyk character was deplorable esp. with the line: on my mouth! YIKES!!! The aging process was well done for Cardinal Vittorio, Ralph, Grandma Fi, BUT Meggie looks more gorgeous every year, esp. the last scene, they tried to grey her hair, tho unevenly, during the same scene and nary a wrinkle....no biggie compared to her whisper yelling and flat dialogue, ... VHS : Full Body Massage
This movie is essentially "My Dinner With Andre" -- but with Andre as a woman and she's mostly nude. Granted Mimi Rogers is a lot more fun to look at than Mr. Gregory (I can't picture her as Wallace Shawn...), but the long wordy conversation which runs throughout this film is just as shallow and pointless as Malle's original. They talk about art, about shamanistic healing, about relationships and "the differences between men and women" -- but nothing is ever settled. Both characters state their opinions and keep talking. ... Read More:

This is a review of the 2000, Showtime, made-for-cable production based on the wonderful Nevil Shute novel. The plot is simply: A nuclear world war has occurred. Only Australia survives, temporarily, until the nuclear cloud arrives from the northern hemisphere. A surviving American submarine arrives in Australia. A story of drama and interpersonal relationships ensues.

A film of this story was previously produced in 1959, starring Gregory Peck, Ava Gardner, Anthony Perkins, Fred Astaire. In my opinion, the 1959 version ... Read More:

Despite the requisite Hollywood cliches, this is a great film. Dian Fossey didn't know what she was getting into when she volunteered to go to Africa, working for Dr. Louis Leakey in taking a census of the endangered Mountain Gorillas. She didn't realise she was expected to work alone, in a remote mountain hut, and in a country torn by civil war...

But she came to love the subjects of her study so much, that nothing could prize her from the mountain, not even the (human) man she eventually fell in love with. "When you look deep into ... Read More:
