| I loved Stephen King's Different Seasons, except for one thing. I always thought that the story APT PUPIL was about fifty pages too long. The film version takes care of this concern, distilling PUPIL down to it's basic elements: old evil passing itself on to a young, all too eager student. Ian McKellen (yep, Gandolf himself!) is perfectly, quietly malevolent as the ancient nazi war criminal, hiding out in suburbia. | The Cure starring Joseph Mazzello and the late Brad Renfro left me disappointed and uninspired. The friendship between the two boys is awkward, I couldn't get into this film, the story is pretty pointless and somewhat offensive. I was hoping for a deep buddy/buddy film and I got the opposite. |

| I was excited to watch this movie with my daughter who just completed the book. And very excited to see how she had retained so much of the book, and was really enjoying this classic--------SO DISAPPOINTED to find the unnecessary language in a CHILD's classic-------What was/is Disney thinking---why did they feel they had to place G--D--- in an otherwise wonderful movie. |

| This isn't your typical teenage flick, no; it's far worse, the acting is substandard and someone forgot to have a plot. I purchased this DVD at the request of my daughters, they are Brad Renfro fans but even they were disapointed. I recommend renting this first before you purchase a DVD, you may save yourself a little green. |

| "An American Girl" tries to be amusing in an off-hand way about tragedy: teen-age pregnancy, suicide, sexual molestation, low self-esteem and family abuse. It's a complete package in its misfiring: poorly written, badly acted and amateurishly directed. It wasn't as good as a thrown-together t.v. movie. |

| This is a great, great movie. It could have easily gone off into another variation of the typical indie film. Instead of being smug and overly quirky like many indie films can be, this film is genuine, intelligent, and humanistic as well. I atttribute this to the director, Terry Zwigoff, who directed one of my favorite documentaries, Crumb, and the two excellent leads, Steve Buscemi and Thora Birch.
