VHS : Enter the Dragon
I really enjoyed this film because it was a lot more than just a martial arts flick in which the plot was just an afterthought to surround the fighting scenes like most martial arts films then and even now. In fact, as has been pointed out by many reviewers here the action scenes are certainly not the best fight scenes ever but that's okay as it's clear that that was never Bruce Lee's intention in the first place. This film was more of a vehicle for Bruce to try and pass along his philosophy which ... Read More:

The Jean Claude Van Damme Review Matrix (JCVD-RM)

1.Who is he? He's two guys! Identical twins separated at birth by the Chinese mafia, one, Chad, is a silk underwear-wearing pretty boy from Los Angeles, and the other, Alex, is a criminal from Hong Kong. Amazingly, they both grew up to be martial arts experts.
2.Which family member/friend must be avenged? Their parents are murdered by the same Chinese mafia
3.Does he take his shirt off? Bolo Yeung rips Chad's shirt off during ... Read More:

I'll go out on a limb and give this one a 4 stars. Though it feels like your basic average martial arts flick (and unfortunately, another lame movie taking place in the run-down future), the martial arts cast and amount of fight action make up for it. Though the fights aren't overly impressive, and some of these guys are used to giving a stronger performance, it seems there are fights every 5 minutes throughout the film. And I have seen plenty of worse fights in other films too. If it weren't for the action ... Read More:

VHS : Shootfighter 2
The first Shootfighter was one of the best original American made martial art movies ever in my opinion. Unfortunately, part 2 got lazy. This time the action takes place in Miami. The story is nothing more than a sting operation to discover who is behind the illegal Shootfighting ring, which ends up going bad. William Zakba, Michael Bernardo and Bolo Yeung are the only 3 to return from the first film. Sorry to say, but their roles in this film were pretty bland. As for the other characters in the film, it pretty much ... Read More:

it has problems. 2 to be exact but nothing that makes it unwatchable. No, sir. The non removable german subtitles are distracting, but it's not exactly the best movie and when the action starts, they don't really talk anyway. Also , it is not remastered but is VERY watchable. VERY!!!!!!
But not all is bad. It is widescreened to perfection. That always helps:)

The story starts out with mark long and hwang jang lee plotting to get a hold of the secret kung fu book containing the 36 deadly styles. And mark ... Read More:

YOU KNOW, I ACTUALLY WATCHED THIS AWFUL AWFUL MOVIE IN SPANISH. AND EVEN THOUGH I DIDN'T UNDERSTAND A WORD THAT WAS BEING SAID, I WAS BORED BY ITS FIGHTS ALONE. THE REASON I CANNOT TELL YOU THE PLOT IS BECAUSE I COULDN'T UNDERSTAND THE DIALOGUE. BUT I WILL TELL YOU THIS, FROM WATCHING THIS MOVIE, I SAW SOME OF THE WORST KUNG-FU FIGHTING EVER. BRUCE LE SEEMED COOL, BUT, THE FIGHTS HE DID IN THIS MOVIE IS DEFINITELY LOW-QUALITY. I REGRET EVER WATCHING THIS MOVIE. THIS MOVIE WAS SO BAD THAT WHEN I SAW IT IN SPANISH ON CHANNEL 47 ... This is the finest film ever made. You will sing. You will cry. You will not laugh or you will be destroyed.

I eagerly await the prequel, Bloodbirth, currently in production telling the story of a young Frank Dux born with his umbilical cord wrapped around his throat. Stan Dux, Frank's once kindhearted sweater knitting father, blames his wife for the accident. Stan begins drinking heavily. His drinking becomes out of control and culminates in a scene at his son's 6th birthday party. Upset and disoriented after a particularly ... Read More:

This movie is pure nostalgia if you remember the first Karate Kid. The Cobra Kai are back in action. This movie also features BOLO as the hero and has a few WMAC camios.
The one thing I don't get is that BOLO is chinese, but his character "Shingo" has a japanese name. BOLO is well versed in Tai Chi, but his character is a substitute teacher at a karate school.
Despite the ignorance of the script, there is enough action to make up for these flaws.
