| I really enjoyed this movie cause it did show the Indian grayeagle a kind person. I loved it when each day she beth learned about who she is and not what she was lead to believe. I loved it cause it was a clean movie withno language what so ever. I wish they had more scences for each time they moved from one place and at the end a little longer with chief running wolf her father that she found out about. I hope for more movies like this one especially about the Indians |

| I prefer Selleck's newer westerns. Still the cast in this movie is a who's who for westerns. Ben Johnson stills the show. Glen Ford is as solid as ever. The "Sackett boys" make it look easy. This is now a classic movie from the master classic western writer. |

| Another one of my favorite movies with John Wayne and the whole John Ford crew.
The scene where Ben Johnson, Harry Carey Jr., and Claude Jarman Jr. ride two Horses Roman style (that's standing on the two horse's backs) was actually done by them, not stuntmen! They just don't make them like that anymore. |

| I've seen this film several times and I always find it disturbing because it strikes me as classic Hollywood in that though the Civil War is central to the film, at no point is slavery ever mentioned. Which is to say that the film turns on the reconciliation of North and South and their mutual interests, which come to the fore as they are fighting Mexicans. Though I must say that the scene with Wayne and Hudson swigging bourbon as they recount the war is entertaining, ultimately, the film's unwillingness to explore the nature of their difference ...
